This secluded enclosed garden is lovingly maintained and makes a wonderful place to spend time with family or friends on those sunny days in the Lake District.

Description

Millside Cottage is situated in a quiet location, close to the centre of the village and a short distance from the village shop. There are two allocated parking places at the front of the property. The cottage has full gas central heating, double glazing and is lovingly maintained with wonderful views of the fells. It is charming and well equipped offering very comfortable accommodation for any time of year.

The entrance porch opens into a spacious, well decorated, lounge with a beamed ceiling, a living flame gas fire which has a remote control, and a leather suite, along with Smart TV, Bluetooth + CD Hi-Fi.

From the lounge you enter the fully fitted kitchen diner with built in appliances, including oven, 5 ringed ceramic touch control hob, microwave, washer dryer, fridge and freezer, dishwasher and Nespresso Magimix coffee machine with some complimentary pods. There is a dining area with table and four chairs with views out to the secluded garden.

From the kitchen there is a small sun room with comfortable wicker chairs and table, ideal for afternoon tea and reading. This leads to the well kept enclosed garden which is ideal for families and those sunny days in the Lake District. It has a paved area with table and chairs, many different flowering shrubs and views out towards the fells.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one bedroom with bespoke king size bed and one twin with two singles, both with built in wardrobes.

The large bathroom has both a bath and a shower cubicle, and a wash hand basin (the view of Barrow Fell from the bath after a day on the fells is definitely recommended). There is a separate WC next to the bathroom. One bath towel and one hand towel are provided per person.

Perfect location
We enjoyed 6 nights in Millside Cottage during the recent snow and ice, and found it to be very warm, comfortable and clean. The beds are very comfortable as are the sofas, the view from the picture window in the large bathroom is spectacular, theres tons of hot water and a lovely big bath, plenty of storage space in the kitchen and bedrooms and decent cleaning materials to hand, the garden is well kept and secure for dogs, it’s easy to park directly in front of the house, and it’s right next to Braithwaite shop, 2 decent dog friendly pubs, 2 smart restaurants and 2 cafes (the shop has recently added on a dining area, although it’s not dog friendly). Loads of great walking from the door to suit all abilities. Keswick Cottages as a rental agency are also good communicators and offer a personable service and are very good value compared to the other national rental companies (Sykes, Hoseasons etc). We’d happily return. As an aside, the recycling/bin information for the cottage needs updating (collections aren’t on a Tuesday as stated and there’s no information on what can be recycled in which external bins).

Thank you so much for your 5-star review! We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay at Millside Cottage, and found it clean, very warm, comfortable and spacious. We are so glad you enjoyed the view and found the beds and sofas comfortable, we are so pleased you found the view from the bathroom spectacular. We hope your dogs enjoyed exploring the enclosed garden! Thank you so much for your kind words about our team, as a small local agency we truly appreciate it and want our guests to have a personable experience with us and ask us about anything prior to their stay and during. We will update the information regarding he recycling/bin information for future guests. We hope you had a wonderful time exploring the Lake District. We hope to welcome you back again. Best Wishes, Keswick Cottages

Lovely cottage in great location
Our fifth visit, and Millside Cottage is a bit of a home from home. Perfect location. Village shop is virtually next door, ideal for basic provisions, ice cream, cakes, bread baked daily on site. Coledale Inn just a few minutes away, excellent for refreshments or huge meals. Superb view from beer garden. Staff very friendly and attentive. Swinside Inn, a mile or so away equally recommended. So many walks from the door, no driving needed. Easy walk to Keswick that has Booths ("waitrose of the north") and Co-op as well as a massive variety of outdoor clothing shops, coffee shops and pubs. Useful as no welcome pack other than a small supply of cleaning products provided. Some maintenance needed internally and garden could do with a little tlc. Parking in front of house wouldn't work for other than one normal/large and very small second car. Access sometimes tricky when cars/vans parked opposite on the narrow road. Nothing that spoiled our holiday, and we will no doubt return in future. Thank you, lastly, to Keswick Cottages for efficiently and professionally managing the booking process.

Thank you so much for this great review about Millside Cottage! We love that you feel Millside Cottage is a home away from home! Also that you found the local shops and pubs very convenient! We are so glad you had a great holiday and want to return in the future! Thank you also for commenting on our customer service, as a small local agency we really value feedback from our guests so we can maintain and improve our customer service so our guests can have the best holiday! We hope to welcome you back soon! Best Wishes, Keswick Cottages

Handily placed for walks ,climbs village shop which stocks almost everything and lovely staff.Cottage had everything we needed very well equipped and clean.Braithwaite is a lovely village but can be busy at certain times of year it’s also very near to Keswick which is good. Keswick cottages friendly and helpful kept us well informed with all the details.
It was great to be back in our favourite cottage in the Lake District after over a year. The owners Ian & Sue have put a lot of work in to making the cottage COVID safe. Unfortunately as part of making it safe some items have had to be removed but that didn't detract from the facilities this cottage offers. Even the weather was good. Already booked up for November.
