Description

Lydia's River Cottage is open plan downstairs, fully central heated with a remote control living flame gas stove to provide a nice cosy focal point on cooler days. There is a 40 inch Smart Super HDTV and a DAB radio.

The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, oven with ceramic hob above and a microwave oven.

The rear door leads onto a large elevated riverside patio directly above the river Greta, which is private and has spectacular river views.Relaxed outdoor dining can be combined with wildlife viewing (binoculars supplied). Ducks, goldeneye, mergansers, herons, white throated dippers and grey wagtails are common and the rarer sightings include kingfishers and otters.

Upstairs there are two pretty bedrooms – a double bedroom to the rear of the property which overlooks the river and a twin bedded room to the front with views towards Walla Crag.

The modern shower room washbasin and toilet are upstairs, as the cottage has no bath the owners installed a large shower with choice of monsoon or normal showering.

Parking for the cottage is private, off road and large enough for two cars.

WIFI is complementary and unlimited approx 16Mbps.

Keswick offers plenty of options to keep you occupied during your stay. For walkers the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Trial which starts next to the Keswick Leisure centre is a 5 kilometre (10 kilometre there and back) walk along what was once a railway track. It offers beautiful views and is a multi-user trial suitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs and mobility scooters. If you fancy something with a little more elevation and spectacular views, Latrigg and Walla Crag can be reached from your doorstep, and you can even tick off some Wainwrights! 10 minutes out of Keswick is Whinlatter forest, which offers a huge selection of walks and outdoor activities.

Keswick itself offers lots of amenities, from shops to cafés, pubs to theatres, you will be spoilt for choice.

Our Second home.
For 20 years now we have been taking many breaks in the year in what was originally two cottages site, but now just Lydias., The Comfort and quality of the cottage has never let us down, all appliances available, just like home. Bedtime is lulled by the bubbling and soporific accompaniment of the River Greta. ~The situation of Lydias is perfect, 15 minute walk into Keswick, through Fitz park, there is a garage/ super market over the road. Centrally situated in the lakes to allow people to access all areas for absorbing all that is Cumbria about. We will always as far as possible take at least a weeks rest here, it is what we do, perfection guaranteed. The Owners, who we now known for these years, started this fine accomodation to be a comfortable base, with quality. Now it is left in the secure hands of Keswick cottages, who always have time and consideration for inmates to be satisfied, any question answered being always available. Thanks again for a fabulous 2025, as Arnie said " I'll be back". Thanks.
A perfect stay
We love the location of the cottage. Being on the river is so picturesque and perfect for morning coffees outside. The cottage is really comfortable and spotless. It had everything we needed for a lovely stay. Keswick is a lovely town with lots of beautiful walks nearby. Recommend Casa Bella and Bar Es for delicious meals.

Thank your for your amazing 5* review of Lydia's River Cottage, we are so happy to hear you had a fantastic stay at the property! We hope to welcome you back in the future! Best Wishes, Keswick Cottages

Fab Cottage in the heart of Keswick
We stayed here for a week and had an amazing time. The cottage itself is fab.If was clean, spacious and modern and made for a perfect holiday for four people. The large living area was bright and cosy with a fully equipped kitchen that had everything you could wish for. Both bedrooms were great with a lovely bathroom too and the largest shower which was amazing. The raised riverside patio out the back was fab to sit out and soak up the sun watching the Heron and other wildlife. The location was great too with only a 15 walk in to the centre of Keswick and being opposite the Twa Dogs pub and Spar minimarket too. Having parking for 2 cars was a real bonus as well and being near all the major attractions of the Northern Lakes made this an amazing place to stay.We would highly recommend and will be back.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review of Lydia's River Cottage, it sounds like you had a fantastic stay at the property and made the most of the lovely river side outside space! Lydia's is the perfect location for those wanting a cosy, peaceful cottage, but close to all the amenities Keswick has on offer! We look forward to welcoming you back in the future! Best Wishes, Keswick Cottages

We rented Lydia’s Cottage for two weeks. It was a great location close to transport and provided perfect accessibility to the entire Lake District. Clean and comfortable throughout. Would recommend to anybody.
Cozy cottage, very well equipped for a couple or small family. Despite its location on the main road, it is set well back from the road and therefore quiet. Rear courtyard is set on the banks of River Greta. Beautiful. Parking at the front. Property is set just outside the centre of the town, 10-15 minute walk on the main road but a couple of minutes extra if you take the old railway line (accessed just behind the Shell garage) Convenience store on the garage forecourt was well stocked and had everything we needed.
Booked a late deal with Keswick cottages for my husbands 70th Birthday. Jessica at Keswick cottages couldn't have been more helpful. Sent me details of available cottages. Answered all my questions and was brilliant throughout the booking process. We have used Keswick cottages on several occasions now as you can be certain of the service and the quality of the accommodation. This time we stayed at Lydia's River cottage. Wow! Brilliant location with parking for 2 cars just on the edge of Keswick. The cottage was warm and really comfy (home from home feel). The cottage was really tastefully decorated with quality equipment. Views from both front and back were gorgeous. The patio at the back would be brilliant for relaxing on. Not for us in early Jan with -3 temperatures ,but will return again later in the year to enjoy. In summary a beautiful cottage,in a great location which we didn't want leave and will look forward to returning to again. 😊
