Description

Freshly renovated throughout, Greta House offers a modern and functional space for both families and couples. The property is accessed from Penrith Road, just opposite The Twa Dogs Inn, and is within walking distance of Keswick town centre.

The front door leads into the sophisticated open-plan living and kitchen area, where you'll find plenty of space to hang coats and store boots. There would be enough room here to keep a pram if needed. The living area is furnished with two plush leather sofas, a built-in bar which is kitted out with cocktail making equipment, wall-mounted 42-inch Smart TV and log-burning stove for enjoying chilly nights by the fire.

Beyond the living area you will find the dining table, which seats four people comfortably. In this central section you can also find the integrated fridge and freezer, kettle and toaster. Around the corner is the main kitchen area, which also houses the electric oven/grill, induction hob, dishwasher, sink with hose attachment, air-fryer and washer-dryer.

The kitchen is full of natural light, thanks to the bi-fold doors that open out onto the delightful patio area. You can enjoy al-fresco meals around the large outdoor dining table whilst soaking up the views and the sounds of the River Greta. From the patio you can walk through the lawned area to a beautiful deck complete with outdoor sofa and parasol, for those lazy days by the water.

Heading back up towards the house, you will find an outdoor kitchen area to your left, perfect for the summer months.

Once inside, walk back through to the living room and up the stairs to the first floor hallway. Straight ahead, at the front of the property, you can find the master suite. The bedroom is furnished with a double bed, bedside tables and lights, and clothing rails. The en-suite comprises walk in shower, WC, heated towel rail and sink.

The second bedroom can be found at the rear of the property and benefits from beautiful views over the garden and River Greta, which are on full display thanks to the floor-ceiling casement window. The addition of a Juliet balcony means that you can open this up to enjoy the surroundings from the comfort of your bed! This room is furnished with a super-king bed, which can be made up into a twin upon request (£15 additional fee).

Finally, across the hall you can find the bathroom which comprises walk-in waterfall shower, sink, WC and heated towel rail. Towels are provided.

There is a bus stop close by which will take you into the town centre and for guests travelling by car there is unrestricted on-street parking across the road.

Keswick offers plenty of activities and amenities for your stay. Whether you’re looking for adventure activities, retail therapy, or new and exciting things to do, there’s something to keep everyone entertained.

Need to stock up on groceries for your self-catering Keswick holiday? Booths and Co-Op are Keswick’s two main supermarkets, with produce also available on the Keswick Markets.

If you’re looking to venture out into the Lake District without a car, Keswick is serviced by the X4 and X5 bus services, running all the way from Workington to Penrith, linking Keswick to local train stations

Lovely Cottage
Really lovely cottage and even better garden, very peaceful at the back however the road noise at the front is quite loud on a morning.

Hi Catherine, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of Greta House. We’re really pleased to hear that you found the cottage lovely and enjoyed the garden — it’s great to know how much you appreciated the peaceful space at the rear, which is a real highlight of the property. Thank you as well for sharing your thoughts regarding the road noise at the front in the mornings. Feedback like this is always helpful, as it allows future guests to choose a property that best suits their preferences. Greta House Stay
We booked Greta House via Keswick Cottages after arriving in Keswick to our AirBnB property which wasn't as described. We called Keswick Cottages at 4pm on Friday and were in the property by 5.30pm. Greta House is lovely. Really well designed with a great use of space. Everything is well kept and maintained. The thing that makes the property so special though is the garden. It backs directly onto the river, is well designed with comfortable furniture and a BBQ. We were able to sit outside by the river due to the sunny weather. Our dog loved the space too. As a few people have mentioned there is no designated parking which wasn't a problem for us, but I'm not sure what this would be like in peak season as there is very limited parking nearby. We loved our stay and would highly recommend this property.

Hi, Tracy! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful review — it truly was our absolute pleasure to help you. We were so sorry to hear about the situation you arrived to with an Airbnb ran by another agency, but we’re delighted we could step in quickly and get you settled into Greta House the very same afternoon. That’s exactly what we’re here for. Greta House really is a beautifully designed space, and it’s great to hear you appreciated how well everything is laid out and maintained. The owners put a lot of care into it, and your kind words will mean a lot to them. And yes — that garden. It’s the part everyone falls in love with, and we’re so pleased you got to enjoy it in sunny weather. Sitting right by the river with comfortable furniture, a BBQ and nothing but peaceful surroundings is such a treat, and we love that your dog enjoyed the space just as much. You’re absolutely right about the parking; there’s no designated space, and while it usually works out fine, it can be a bit more limited during peak season. We really appreciate you mentioning it for future guests. Most of all, we’re just so glad your last?minute change turned into a stay you loved. Thank you for trusting us at a stressful moment, and for taking the time to recommend Greta House so warmly. We’d be delighted to welcome you back any time. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Fabulous cottage and garden
The cottage is beautiful and really well appointed. It had everything we needed for our short stay. The garden is beautiful and we'd like stay again in the spring or summer months to appreciate it more! It's only a short walk into Keswick and bus stops are right near by. We'd definitely stay here again.

Hi, Kerry! We're so happy that you enjoyed your stay. We definitely recommend booking in again for summer to fully appreciate all of the features, including the bifold doors looking out onto the outdoor kitchen and dining space. The garden really is incredible, especially from the Juliette balcony. Still, there's plenty to fall in love with in Greta House during the winter months, including the built-in bar, kitted out with cocktail making equipment; wall-mounted 42-inch smart TV, and log burning stove. As you can imagine, Greta House is very popular, so we'd recommend booking your summer break early to avoid disappointment. Either book online, or chat to one of our team! We can't wait to see you all again. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Wonderful accommodation in a great location. Just a short walk into town. Place was spotless. Lovely garden with the river at the bottom. Kept the window open in the night to hear the lovely sound of it. Parking may be difficult during busier periods but we were able to get a space on the small road opposite every time.
Stunning property very well done and good use of space, with everything you could ever need.
