Description

Entering the cottage from the porch, the spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner provides a charming sociable living space for unwinding after a day of adventures. There are two comfortable leather sofas to curl up on in front of the cosy log-burning stove while you enjoy your favourite series on the Smart TV or a good book.

The brand new kitchen overlooks the pretty garden and comes fully equipped with fridge, induction hob, oven, microwave and dishwasher. On warmer days why not open up the french doors for an al fresco drink and nibble - or even just a serene moment observing the comings and goings of the resident birds and wildlife. At the back of the garage there is a useful utility space with washing machine and tumble dryer.

Moving upstairs there are two beautiful bedrooms. The master bedroom is at the front of the cottage with king size bed, double windows and plenty of storage space, and the twin bedroom is to the back of the cottage. Both bedrooms have quality beds and mattresses, made up with crisp white bed linen and towels. The bathroom has a mirror with lighting, WC hand wash basin and beautiful bath with shower over, ideal for reinvigorating tired muscles,

There is an electric vehicle charging point next to the private allocated covered car parking space (please note the charging point is shared with Spa Cottage next door)

Guests can enjoy complimentary WiFi

There is an abundance of choice when it comes to walking routes, or why not bring your bike with you to see even more of this beautiful area with pedal power. There is a lockable shed at the back of the garden for storage.

It would be easy to park up and enjoy a jam-packed car-free holiday. Braithwaite amenities include three lovely pubs serving food and local ales, village shop and a tea room. Theres nearby Whinlatter Forest along with a huge selection of walks and outdoor activities to choose from, a nearby bus stop with routes taking you all over the Lake District, and Keswick town centre only minutes away.

Reviews

a sunny September week at Glenn Cottage
Glenn Cottage is an outstanding property. Recently renovated, the cottage has been finished to a very high standard. The owner / renovator has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable, for example, night lights that click on if you get up in the night, outdoor lights to highlight the garden, black out blinds, induction hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The crockery, kitchen equipment, and linen are also high quality. The garden is beautiful and really well thought out. It has plenty of seating and is perfect for breakfast or an evening gin and tonic and a covered porch. We have two escape artist dogs and the garden really is fully enclosed. The location is perfect (with two pubs and a shop) and we hiked out from the cottage most days and only moved to car once (to go to Keswick for supplies). My only negative comments are that the second twin bedroom is very small, with no storage and there is only a two seater sofa and one easy chair in the lounge. As a couple this did not impact on our holiday at all and I only make the comment to help bigger groups work out if this is the best cottage for them. We will certainly be booking to stay at Glenn Cottage again soon.

Thank you so much for your 5-star review of Glen Cottage! We're so happy you found this an outstanding cottage to stay in and that you appreciate the recent renovation. We are so glad you felt like the owners had thought of everything to make their guests have a perfect stay. We hope you had some relaxing time in the garden and your two dogs enjoyed exploring it. Thank you so much for your feedback regarding the twin bedroom and the seating in the lounge, we will pass this onto the owners. We hope you had some wonderful hikes and we can't wait to welcome you back! Best Wishes, Keswick Cottages

We loved it!
We had a great stay at Glen Cottage. It is well situated in the lovely village of Braithwaite, close to the shop, cafe and pub- all of which are great too. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable and has a fab garden for relaxing in after a long day on the fells or out exploring.

Lovely cottage in a great location but a few improvements needed
The cottage had been newly renovated with all the mod cons you would expect and excellent lighting throughout e.g. dimmed lighting to see up the stairs and in the bathroom and landing which was handy when getting out of bed in the night, renovated to a high standard with a beautiful back garden to sit out in and the little covered area just outside the back door was great when weather was inclement. As holiday let owners ourselves there was a few things which could be improved to make it more comfortable for guests us overall we really enjoyed our stay. There was no cling film, foil or kitchen roll which you do need on holiday. Also there were thick duvets (10.5 tog) on the beds so our first night was really hot, however we called Keswick Cottages and the owners responded with two summer ones delivered the same day which was great. There were no Lake District maps and books of the local area and Lake District pictures on the walls would make it feel more homely. Hooks on the back of doors in the bedroom and bathroom would have been useful for dressing gowns etc. Also some throws on the beds to dress the bedrooms. Finally the outside bin instructions were confusing, there was no trade waste bin outside as instructed on the tablet and no info on how to use the car charger so we didn’t use it in the end which was a shame.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Glen Cottage. The cottage is self-catering, but we do provide some welcome provisions to make things easier for guests on arrival, including a kitchen starter pack and refreshment pack. We're pleased you were happy with the service and quick response, it is extremely important to us that guests are comfortable in their accommodation. We appreciate your suggestions and will pass these on to the owner of the cottage. This is a new holiday let so I know they are very keen to hear from guests! We hope you had a wonderful time exploring Keswick and the beautiful Lake District.
