This secluded enclosed garden is lovingly maintained and makes a wonderful place to spend time with family or friends on those sunny days in the Lake District.

Description

Millside Cottage is situated in a quiet location, close to the centre of the village and a short distance from the village shop. There are two allocated parking places at the front of the property. The cottage has full gas central heating, double glazing and is lovingly maintained with wonderful views of the fells. It is charming and well equipped offering very comfortable accommodation for any time of year.

The entrance porch opens into a spacious, well decorated, lounge with a beamed ceiling, a living flame gas fire which has a remote control, and a leather suite, along with Smart TV, Bluetooth + CD Hi-Fi.

From the lounge you enter the fully fitted kitchen diner with built in appliances, including oven, 5 ringed ceramic touch control hob, microwave, washer dryer, fridge and freezer, dishwasher and Nespresso Magimix coffee machine with some complimentary pods. There is a dining area with table and four chairs with views out to the secluded garden.

From the kitchen there is a small sun room with comfortable wicker chairs and table, ideal for afternoon tea and reading. This leads to the well kept enclosed garden which is ideal for families and those sunny days in the Lake District. It has a paved area with table and chairs, many different flowering shrubs and views out towards the fells.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one bedroom with bespoke king size bed and one twin with two singles, both with built in wardrobes.

The large bathroom has both a bath and a shower cubicle, and a wash hand basin (the view of Barrow Fell from the bath after a day on the fells is definitely recommended). There is a separate WC next to the bathroom. One bath towel and one hand towel are provided per person.

It would be easy to park up and enjoy a jam-packed car-free holiday. Braithwaite amenities include three lovely pubs serving food and local ales, village shop and a tearoom. There’s nearby Whinlatter Forest along with a huge selection of walks and outdoor activities to choose from, a nearby bus stop with routes taking you all over the Lake District, and Keswick town centre only minutes away.

Great location
We've stayed here before and will be booking it again. The location is perfect. The property is clean. The garden is small but my dog can't get out of it which is a big plus for me. There are a few minor issues which make it a 4* rather than a 5*

Hi Alison, Thank you for your review. Millside Cottage in the village of Braithwaite is perfectly located close to to the village shop and 2 pubs which serve great food and real ales. There are lots of walk right from the doorstep and it is only a short trip in to Keswick town centre. We're thrilled to hear that you will be booking again. We always appreciate guest feedback so that we can improve on our services. Please feel free to contact us with the issues you found so that we can try our best to rectify them for future guests. Perfect on all fronts, again
This was our seventh day at Millside, and hopefully there will be many more. The location is perfect. Braithwaite is a friendly place, thankfully not over-run with holiday lets. The village shop is four doors away. It is even more of an asset in the village given the investment that the new owners have made in it a wonderful supply of cakes, ice creams and adequate supply of every day essentials. The addition of a tea room and bedrooms demonstrates a commitment to making it a success. We appreciated the little tweaks that the new owners have made to Millside, that have made it an even better holiday experience. The view of Barrow from the bath hasn't changed, and makes a welcome soak after a day out even more relaxing. Off-street parking is a bonus, although manoeuvering in and out of the space with a large SUV can be a bit of a challenge when people park directly opposite the cottage on the street. But we tended to walk from the door and only use the car to get to Keswick to stock up on food/essentials so no great issue. Parking off street for the suggested 2 cars might only work with 2 smaller vehicles. Coledale Inn, less than 5 mins walk, is good for drinks or food, with lovely views. Swinside Inn, 1.5 miles down the valley equally good and has been upgraded by the new owners/tenants in the last 12 months or so. Good food on offer in both locations. Lingholm Kitchen, just outside Portinscale brilliant also for snacks. The cottage truly is dog friendly. The small garden is totally enclosed and safe. Our dog says "thank you" for her welcome pack with toy and treats. All features offered were in perfect order. We welcomed the offer of mid 2 week stay clean. The staff and service from Keswick Cottages is second to none. They are a pleasure to deal with, know their properties and therefore much more than a letting agency, streets above the big nationals who know nothing about their properties other than what's in the listing and sometimes inaccurate, in our experience. So, please stay "small and beautiful" please Keswick Cottages! We look forward to returning in 2026.

Hi Heather, Thank you for your lovely review! We pride ourselves on being a small, local team who are always contactable and know our properties inside out. Receiving comments like this really make our day. We're thrilled that you love Millside Cottage so much that you keep returning and we look forward to welcoming you back again next year! Cozy, Clean & Comfortable in an ideal location
Our first stay in Millside Cottage but certainly won't be our last. We usually stay in Keswick but have fallen in love with Braithwaite. The cottage is located perfectly, just a couple doors away from the village shop which is ideal. Straight out the door & on to the fells without any need to drive. And just a short drive from Whinlatter which is ideal for walks & mountain bike rides. We found it to be very clean, comfortable, well equipped with parking big enough for a car and a van. The cottage was clean with a nice little secure garden which was perfect to sit in after a day on the fells. A proper home from home vibe & we are already looking forward to our next visit!

Hi Emma, Thank you for your fantastic review of Millside Cottage. Braithwaite is a lovely village with just about everything you could want on hand. The village shop is very handy and with a café and several pubs you are spoilt for choice for somewhere to eat. We hope you had plenty of adventures and enjoyed relaxing in the garden. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

We loved the house and all the homely comforts it has inside. The conservatory was an added bonus that we got to enjoy on even a wet and dreary day. The kitchen is really well equipped, location perfect right next to the shop and many of the beautiful walks of the Lakes, thank you!
Stunning cottage in an ideal location for walking and visiting Keswick. Cottage is very well equipped, extremely comfortable, warm and cosy, beds are the best we have ever slept in. Lovely secure dog friendly garden with stunning views, bonus of having parking at the front of the cottage. Just steps away from a shop and 2 exceptional pubs. Quiet and peaceful, ideal for couples, small family or friends. Keswick cottages are really supportive, helpful and respond quickly to all queries, we would without question use this company again
Superb village location with parking, shop just a few steps away as are 2 excellent pubs, park up and walk. Views are breathtaking. Very cosy, warm and exceptionally clean. Lovely to have a living flame gas fire for that homely feel, very well eqipped throughout, lovely secluded dog safe garden. Beds and pillows are the comfiest ever, lots of storeage space which is a bonus. Only slight downside is that the shower pressure is not great but you just have to stay in the shower longer! Love the modern tablet that welcomes guests and gives lots of useful information including how to use every appliance in the cottage. Plenty of room for 2 adults and children with 1 king size bedroom and a twin, 4 adults would also have plenty of room.Benefits from a shower cubicle and a deep bath. Stairs are steep so not good for anyone with mobility difficulties. Perfect though in every way.
