Description

The Ridgeway is a beautiful Victorian property, with many personal touches to create a ’home from home’ feel, ideal for those wishing to be close to all local amenities, but just out of the way of traffic and crowds.

The fully-enclosed south-facing patio has wonderful views to the fells for perfect al-fresco dining.

Private parking is allocated for one car.

The large, bright lounge with high ceilings on the first floor has a fabulous bay window looking out over Keswick to Catbells and the fells beyond. There are two large sofas and an open fire for cosy winter nights, with dining table in the picture postcard bay window. There is a Smart TV, DVD player, and plenty of Lakeland guides, books and games.

The twin bedroom with solid oak furniture (chest of drawers, wardrobe and bedside tables) is also on the first floor with lovely views towards Latrigg. This room can be converted to king-sized upon request.

The first floor bathroom is fully tiled and has a double-ended bath, separate shower cubicle, towel rail and wash hand basin. There is a separate WC on this floor.

On the ground floor, there is a bright king bedroom with a leather chair positioned in the bay window overlooking the patio/garden. There is a new Euro king-size bed with quality mattress, plenty of storage, a flatscreen TV/DVD, dressing table, and lovely high ceilings. Both bedrooms are dressed with luxury linens and fresh white fluffy towels.

The very modern kitchen is also on the ground floor with fitted units, granite worktops, built-in electric oven and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine, DAB radio and breakfast bar, with well-stocked cupboards with everything you need for a self-catering holiday.

There is a sizeable utility room at the back of the apartment for walking gear and bikes, with a tumble dryer and providing a useful back door with rear access to the street.

The downstairs shower room has a shower, WC and wash hand basin.

Relaxing February Break
3rd time staying here. Spacious, well equipped and furnished place. Great central location and easy (provided) parking. Log fire was very cosy.

Hi Sarah, Thank you so much for your lovely review — it means a lot that this was your third stay at The Ridgeway! We’re delighted to hear that you continue to enjoy the space, the comfortable furnishings, and the well?equipped setup. The central location really is ideal for exploring Keswick, and we’re glad the allocated parking makes things nice and easy during your stay. And yes — that log fire is such a cosy treat, especially after a day out in the Lakes. We’re so pleased it helped make your stay even more enjoyable. We’d be absolutely delighted to welcome you back for stay number four! Warmest wishes, Keswick Cottages

A very Pleasant Stay
This apartment is very well equipped and comfortable. The only thing is, you can hear the noise from the neighbour upstairs. It is an old floorboard; you can hear every step they take. It was an original whole house converted (we think) into 2 separate apartments.

Hi, Sharon! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review for The Ridgeway. Positive feedback has a great impact in helping people to book local, and support local, independent businesses. The Ridgeway is famed for its incredible views, and has plenty of amenities that make it ideal for self-catering holidays, especially the spacious and well-equipped kitchen. We were so happy that you decided to extend your stay by staying in our other properties, that we were able to facilitate that, and that we've been able to play a part in your Lake District adventures. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Perfect Property for our needs
The Ridgeway is a great base for exploring Keswick and the Northern Lake District. The property is very comfortable, well equipped (particularly the kitchen) and the lounge/diner gives lovely views over the town and the local fells, with a nice real fire to keep off the chill on a winter's evening - the rest of the house stayed comfortably warm with the preset Central Heating. Beds very comfortable, plenty of warm water and nice showers (even the smaller downstairs one, although this room was a little cramped and needed the handy fan heater). It was immaculately clean with lots of thoughtful touches like the motion sensor lights on the steps and entrances to the property, boot & coat room in the entranceway, a good supply of books, games and jigsaws etc and easy-to-use appliances and wi-fi. Location, just off the town centre and 5 mins from Booth's supermarket, was perfect and the allocated parking space made it hassle-free both when staying in Keswick or driving to other areas and returning to our own dedicated spot. We would highly recommend this property if it's kept at a reasonable price (we stayed in November and booked just a couple of weeks before so obtained a reduced rate for our four night stay). It may benefit other guests to be reminded that there quite a few steps/stairs up to and inside the property if any of their party has mobility issues or are infirm (although our oldest party member is over 80 and she had no problems with this), but for the majority of guests who would be likely to book this type of property it should be near the top of their short list! We hope to return in 2026.

Hello, Simon! Thank you for your review--it's very comprehensive, and covers a lot of our favourite features of the Ridgeway, especially the collection of board games. We hope we can welcome you again soon, and we're so glad that you enjoyed your stay! Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

This is a lovely location with views from the upstairs lounge window /dining table of Catbells and Causey Pike etc. and 2 mins up the road great views across to Skiddaw and just a minute away from Greta Hall where the Lake Poets Coleridge and Southey used to live. It's also five minutes walk away from much of Keswick with all its cafes, pubs and restaurants - a great Christmassy feel and of course the sublimely beautiful Derwentwater, the boat landings and Theatre by the Lake. The house is warm and cosy with a good well equipped kitchen and really comfortable, well decorated and pleasant living room. Well stocked with board games, books and maps too. We had a lovely week.

From booking to check out everything was so easy. Communication was excellent and detailed. We spent a good bit of time hiking the nearby trails then enjoying a pint in one of the lovely pubs in town. An easy walk to a great market for those that wish to cook. It has great hiking snacks as well. Fell in love with the chicken chorizo scotch egg, it may be the perfect hiking snack. Be sure to stop by one of the many pubs for great beer and food. Keswick is very dog friendly and we loved sitting with a pint watching the dogs and chatting with owners. Be aware the property is multi level and the stairs may seem worse after the Skiddaw climb. We are planning our return visit.
