Description

Freshly renovated throughout, Greta House offers a modern and functional space for both families and couples. The property is accessed from Penrith Road, just opposite The Twa Dogs Inn, and is within walking distance of Keswick town centre.

The front door leads into the sophisticated open plan living and kitchen area, where you will find plenty of space to hang coats and store boots. There would be enough room here to keep a pram if needed. The living area is furnished with 2 plush leather sofas, a built-in bar which is kitted out with cocktail making equipment, wall-mounted 42-inch smart TV and log burning stove for those chilly nights by the fire.

Beyond the living area you will see the dining table, which seats 4 people comfortably. In this central section you can also find the integrated fridge and freezer, kettle and toaster. Food preparation is possible around the corner in the main kitchen area, which also houses the electric oven/grill, induction hob, dishwasher, sink with hose attachment, air-fryer and washer/dryer.

The kitchen is filled with light thanks to the bi-fold doors that open out onto the delightful patio area. You can enjoy al-fresco meals around the large outdoor dining table whilst soaking up the views and the sounds of the River Greta. From the patio you can walk through the lawned area to a beautiful deck complete with outdoor sofa and parasol, for those lazy days by the water.

Heading back up towards the house, you will find an outdoor kitchen area to your left, perfect for the Summer months.

Once inside, walk back through to the living room and up the stairs to the 1st floor hallway. Straight ahead, at the front of the property, you can find the master suite. The bedroom is furnished with a double bed, bedside tables and lights, and clothing rails. The ensuite comprises walk in shower, WC, heated towel rail and sink.

The second bedroom can be found at the rear of the property and benefits from beautiful views over the garden and River Greta, which are on full display thanks to the floor-ceiling casement window. The addition of a Juliette balcony means that you can open this up to enjoy the surroundings from the comfort of your bed! This room is furnished with a super-king bed, which can be made up into a twin upon request (£15 additional fee).

Finally, across the hall you can find the bathroom which comprises walk in waterfall shower, sink, WC and heated towel rail. Towels are provided.

There is a bus stop close by which will take you into the town centre and for guests travelling by car there is unrestricted on-street parking across the road.

Keswick offers plenty of options to keep you occupied during your stay. For walkers the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Trial which starts next to the Keswick Leisure centre is a 5 kilometre (10 kilometre there and back) walk along what was once a railway track. It offers beautiful views and is a multi-user trial suitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs and mobility scooters. If you fancy something with a little more elevation and spectacular views, Latrigg and Walla Crag can be reached from your doorstep, and you can even tick off some Wainwrights! 10 minutes out of Keswick is Whinlatter forest, which offers a huge selection of walks and outdoor activities.

Keswick itself offers lots of amenities, from shops to cafés, pubs to theatres, you will be spoilt for choice.

That Garden!
That garden…. If you have dry weather it just stunning. Lovely stay at Greta House, great location. The back bedroom view is amazing. Parking not the best but we could always get a space. Keswick cottages always on hand with any queries. The only downside for us would be pillows… only because I prefer them firmer. Also in the warmer weather a fan in the bedrooms would be a great addition.

Hi Andrea, Thank you for your review. The garden at Greta House is certainly a very impressive feature. If you have the weather it is the perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine and watch the wildlife on the river after a day of exploring the area. The bus stop just up from the house makes it easy to explore the Lakes without the hassle of taking the car. Having a pub that serves food and a shop just over the road is also very handy. We hope you had a fantastic stay! Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

A lovely setting
Greta Cottage is lovely, a smashing garden which leads down onto the shallow river. Lovely garden furniture. It's not fenced from the neighbours so dog needs to supervised always when in the garden. The cottage is furnished to a very high standard. The beds very comfortable. Only downside is it's on a busy main road. We were able to park on the little road opposite and was able to walk safely into Keswick once crossed over the main road and up onto the old bridge behind the petrol station. Would definitely stay again

Hi Helen, Thank you for your review. Greta House is in a lovely location, right on the bank of the river Greta. The garden is the perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine after a day of exploring and watch the wildlife. The old railway line is just over the road behind the Spar where you can walk in to town or walk in the opposite direction to Threlkeld, where there are two country pubs serving great food. There are bus stops just up the road so no need to move your car until it's time to go home. We hope we can welcome you back again soon! Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Gorgeous garden. Very relaxing stay
We loved relaxing in the garden and using the fantastic BBQ. Beautiful house, and really comfortable. The house was well equipped although an airer to dry the clothes and a bread knife would have been useful.

Hi Naomi, Thank you for your review. The garden at Greta House is the perfect place to relax and watch the wildlife on the river after a day of exploring Keswick or hiking up the fells. The Twa Dogs pub opposite is a great option for if you don't fancy cooking or wandering too far in to town. We hope you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages
