Being right on the water’s edge and amongst some of the most picturesque scenery this property is ideal for adventure lovers and all things outdoors

Description

If you’re seeking an extraordinary property for your holiday then look no further than Brandlehow. This private characterful cottage is positioned right on the edge of Derwentwater, with the Woods and Catbells behind, and even has a famous neighbour, the much loved ‘Teddy in the Window’!

Being right on the water’s edge and amongst some of the most picturesque scenery this property is ideal for adventure lovers and all things outdoors! There is plenty of space in the property to store bikes, paddleboards and kayaks, before launching from the front door!
The journey to this cottage is a wonderful experience in itself with stunning views on route, followed by a private access road through the woods to lead you to your holiday home.

On entering the property you’ll be greeted by the farmhouse style kitchen with plenty of worktop space, fridge-freezer, double sinks, and stove. There is a dishwasher, however you may find yourself volunteering to do the washing up just to admire the amazing views over Derwentwater! The large dining table makes this the perfect space to gather together with family and friends to socialise and dine. The utility off the kitchen provides plenty of space for boots and coats, and has a washing machine and dryer.

Pass through the spacious hallway, where there is access to the garden, to find yourself in the homely living room with leather sofas, wall mounted TV and cosy log burning stove.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms, two king bedrooms, one double and one single bedroom, all well furnished with solid furniture, quality Lake District artwork, and with beds dressed in luxury crisp linen. The master bedroom has the added bonus of a wall mounted TV and also an ensuite shower room.

The modern family bathroom is conveniently positioned between the bedrooms and has a bath with shower over.

There are two areas upstairs on the landings with seating, one of which also has a desk, where you can escape to take a quiet moment and admire the views.

Despite how lovely the house is, the enclosed garden with fire pit is most likely going to be where you’ll spend most of your time! The views and scenery are breath-taking (even on a dull day) and it would be difficult to find a more idyllic location! Private parking for two cars.

Fancy an extra treat for your holiday? Hot tub hire is available (add on extras page)

There is a Keswick Launch jetty nearby for easy access to attractions including Nichol End, Lingholm, and central Keswick. If you fancy an evening meal or drink closer to home the Borrowdale Gates and Lodore Falls are less than 1.5 miles away.

Keswick is a short walk away via the suspension bridge over the River Greta and a stroll down the Howrah’s footpath, where there is an abundance of shops, cafes and restaurants.

Please be aware the access road may flood during the rainy season, if this occurs the house can be accessed via a footpath at the rear.

Amazing stay
We all had an excellent stay at Brandlehow. The location was beyond exceptional, with easy access to both Keswick and the surrounding environs of Derwent Water and Borrowdale. Sunrise in particular was a moment of pure bliss. The facilities on site were excellent and beyond our expectations. Having a separate boot room / toilet to dump walking gear proved to be handy. The kitchen was very well appointed. The lounge comfortable. The hall was ideal for our dogs. The bathrooms were clean and spacious. The bedrooms were comfortable, fresh and inviting. Although the beds were a little soft and pillows a tad big, hence the 4 out of 5 rating. The hot tub was great, especially after a long walk, with an amazing aspect. The only improvement could be some hooks outside to hang towels or dry robes, perhaps under an awning to keep them dry. Overall, lots of thoughtful touches, with treats for the dogs, the attention to detail with the App guide, matches to light the fire pit, games and jigsaws and even a smart TV. Well done, we'll look to come again. Teddy in the window rocks!

Thank you for your review! We are so happy you had an excellent stay at Brandlehow, it really is a special place. We bet you took some amazing photos of the sunrise! Having the boot room means you don't have to get mud in the house. We're pleased that you found the lounge comfortable and that the kitchen was very well appointed. We're so glad you enjoyed the hot tub, a perfect way to finish the day after being out exploring. Thank you for your suggestion about the hooks outside, we will mention this to the owner. Thank you so much for commenting about the thoughtful touches, we want all our guests even the four legged ones to have a special holiday! Our digital guide means you have information about the cottage and suggestions of places to eat and explore. We love Teddy in the window, he's a very special character of Derwentwater! We can't wait to welcome you back! Best Wishes, Keswick Cottages

Outstanding property on the very shore of Derwent Water, with views and easy access to walks galore, but especially a dip in the lake ... and you can add a hot tub to recover some warmth! The Keswick Cottages team were superb from initial contact & booking through to arrival and the occasional request for advice during our stay ... well done to all!
We had a great week at Brandlehow … lakeside location is just stunning, and being at the foot of Cat Bells provides an awesome backdrop and temptation for walking. The problem is … the cottage is soooo comfy and has multiple nooks & spaces for chilling, reading, dozing. We loved it!!
Charming big house in an incredible location We spent a week-long family vacation in this house and really enjoyed it. The location directly at the lake was amazing. Although it is very remote, we hardly used the car as there are a lot of nice walks you can do from the house. Additionally, there is a jetty just two minutes walking distance from the house where a ferry to Keswick stops. The house is nice and very large. while the kitchen is very cosy, the furniture in the rest of the house is rather basic and not particularly charming or stylish. It's all about the location.
