Description

Appletree is in the quiet Lakeside village of Portinscale (just outside Keswick) and has some fabulous views of the surrounding fells with local access to the lakeshore and marinas.

On the ground floor, there is a large, open-plan lounge, kitchen-dining area with patio doors out onto a paved patio area and enclosed garden.

The lounge has two three-seater settees, an easy chair, TV, DVD, CD player and an open fire (ideal for a cosy night in). The kitchen is well fitted and has fridge, freezer, double fan oven and gas hob, dishwasher, microwave etc. Off the kitchen there is a small pantry for food storage.

On the ground floor, there is a large bedroom with Smart TV and zip-link beds which as standard is made up as a super king size bed but can be made up as two single beds (there is a £15 charge for this). Also on this floor there is a fully tiled shower room with large drench shower,WC and wash basin.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms. The main bedroom has a king-size bed, is nicely furnished and has lovely views towards the fells. Off this room is a fully tiled, en-suite shower room with drench shower, WC and wash hand basin (with underfloor heating to the tiled floor during the winter months). The twin room is spacious and has a Smart TV, two single beds, a wardrobe, drawers, dressing table etc. and views towards the fells. The fourth bedroom has a double bed and looks out towards Skiddaw. This room is offered at £60 for a short break and £95 for a full week. All bedrooms are beautifully dressed with luxury linen and towels.

The fully tiled bathroom has a bath, separate curved shower cubicle, WC and wash hand basin.

The house also benefits from a fantastic multi-purpose garage/utility space, with plenty of room to securely store bikes, kayaks etc. as well as hanging space for walking gear, a washer-dryer, and there's even a hot or cold dog wash so your canine companion can get squeaky clean before heading inside to get comfortable after a day out exploring!

To the outside there is an enclosed garden and patio with table, chairs & parasol.

Please be aware this property is not suitable for hot tub hire.

There will be no need to worry about parking as the property has a large private driveway.

Portinscale is a beautiful, bustling village, looking out across the shimmering waters of Derwentwater.

From Portinscale, you can explore the surrounding fells and woodlands. For novice ramblers, Catbells is a great starter fell, and offers stunning views of Derwentwater & Keswick.

If you’re looking to venture out into the Lake District without a car, Portinscale is serviced by the X4 and X5 bus services, running all the way from Workington to Penrith, linking Portinscale to local train stations.

Our Latest Appletree Visit.
We have had several visits to Appletree. It is a brilliant venue for family/group get togethers. It is very comfortable and very well equipped, always immaculate. The new garden chairs are extremely comfortable and the garden parasol was an essential for our wall to wall sunny week - incredibly, not a drop of rain all week! We would always return here ..... when available.A word about the staff at Keswick Cottages, they are great to deal with as we have found over the years, nothing is too much trouble, well done.

We’re delighted to hear it continues to be such a brilliant venue for your family and group get?togethers, and that you consistently find it comfortable, well equipped, and immaculately presented. It’s lovely to hear the new garden chairs were a hit, and that the parasol proved essential — especially during such an incredibly sunny week! That sounds like a perfect setting to enjoy the garden to its fullest. Your kind words about our team are truly appreciated. Excellent place to stay
Best place we have stayed in over the many times we have visited Keswick. Great base to stay at in a lovely village with easy access to the town.

Very well equipped, comfortable and warm house. Great to come back to after a day’s walking.
Expensive, but far the most we have ever paid for a holiday cottage. But we booked just one day before August bank holiday, excellent location, so not unhappy. Very high standard everywhere, well-equipped kitchen,. We appreciated the children's games which our Chinese 11 year old enjoyed playing with both families. Room configuration with one downstairs double bedroom works well for a variety of family/guest types. We hope to return to this cottage with our family
Been several times over recent years and seen improvements on each occasion. Nicely decorated with a well equipped kitchen. Three bathrooms ensures everyone gets out on the fells in record time, making the most of our precious days in the beautiful Lakes. Lovely dog proof garden, decent off-street parking and a warm cozy, well insulated abode for when the Lakeland nights have a chill in the air. The property is perfectly situated away from the hustle and bustle of Keswick, yet only a short walk away (20 mins) along a dedicated footpath between the town and the village of Portinscale. Similarly you’ll find a walk in almost every direction from the property, whether it’s lowland by the side of the lake or along the dismantled railway, to high elevations like Skiddaw and Helvellyn etc. The car hardly moves all week as there’s so many fantastic trails and walks from the front door. We’re definitely coming back to stay at Appletree.
