Overview

Cragside Cottage is part of a former traditional Lakeland hill farm (Greenah Crag), nestling in the lee of a rocky outcrop from which it takes its name. Overlooked by the peaks of Helvellyn, Skiddaw and Blencathra and in close proximity to gentler but equally beautiful lakesides, walking and climbing are available on the doorstep. Whatever your interest; cycling, sailing, wildlife, natural history or just simply relaxing, the area around Cragside is crammed with activities for all the family.

Description

A sympathetic barn conversion, with open roof beams and part-exposed stonework, Cragside Cottage offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from a well-maintained, quiet courtyard setting.

On the ground floor, you'll find four bedrooms, including three double bed rooms (one king size) and one small single bedroom. Also on the ground floor is a bathroom and washing machine.

The first floor is made up of a large, open-plan lounge and dining room, with a modern, fully-equipped kitchen. The lounge includes comfortable seating and a wall-mounted Smart TV. The first floor includes a shower room and toilet.

Externally, the cottage offers a small patio area which can be used by guests.

The cottage is extremely well situated for guests looking to explore the Lake District with fantastic walks from the doorstep, and easy access to areas such as Penrith, Ullswater and Keswick, for a wealth of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs.

The cottage benefits from private car parking for up to two cars and guests can enjoy complimentary WiFi.

Keswick offers plenty of activities and amenities for your stay. Whether you’re looking for adventure activities, retail therapy, or new and exciting things to do, there’s something to keep everyone entertained.

Need to stock up on groceries for your self-catering Keswick holiday? Booths and Co-Op are Keswick’s two main supermarkets, with produce also available on the Keswick Markets.

If you’re looking to venture out into the Lake District without a car, Keswick is serviced by the X4 and X5 bus services, running all the way from Workington to Penrith, linking Keswick to local train stations

Rural setting with sheep on the doorstep
Overall we had a good week at Cragside Cottage, right beside a crag with sheep grazing. Lovely open-plan living area and large Smart TV which the grandchildren loved. Modern kitchen, but could have done with slightly smaller dinner plates which actually fitted in the dishwasher and pans which weren't so heavy. We had been assured the patio area would be fenced off by the time we went, but there was nowhere to sit out at all. But it was in a good setting, very easy to park and handy for a number of beauty spots.

Beautiful barn conversion
Lovely house with bedrooms downstairs and a lovely open plan kitchen, dining and seating area upstairs. There is a second bathroom with shower on the top floor with main bathroom on ground floor. The kitchen is well equipped including dish washing items. We loved the location as easy access to Penrith, Keswick and Ulswater with lots of lovely walks. Whilst the property is on a working farm it's very quiet. There are farm dogs that come & say hello so you do need to watch out for poop but you are in the countryside & they are working dogs. We had a couple of visits from the Herdwick sheep that pass by the house on the hill outside. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again,

Awesome stay!
Was a great place for me and my friends to stay in the Lake District. Very cozy rooms and good furniture. No problems at all, I recommend highly!

The cottage is a lovely well equipped property based on a working farm. Watch out for the farm dogs poop! Check in was easy and there is a tablet which has information regarding the property although no information regarding the nearest shop.

Booked this holiday home for a little getaway with some friends, and felt right at home. The cottage is so much more spacious than the pictures and is the perfect spot for a holiday to the lakes, it’s a the perfect location with only a 15 minute drive to Penrith and Keswick with a few beautiful pubs, farm shops and walks nearby. Will 1000% come back here next time we are away at the lakes.
