Description

Step inside this romantic retreat for two and you will immediately feel right at home. This welcoming Lakeland Cottage is accessed via the large doorway from the patio area, which leads into the spacious open-plan kitchen and dining room. This light and airy room makes the perfect space to cook and dine with delightful views looking toward the fells and Borrowdale Valley. The kitchen is well equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge with freezer shelf, dishwasher, microwave, and plenty of cookware. There is a useful utility room which houses the washer-dryer.

The lovely bedroom has a superking-size bed (can be made up as twin on request) with luxury crisp white bed linen, plenty of storage space, and views either side to the nearby woods and field.

The bathroom has a bath with a shower over it, ideal for relaxing tired muscles after a day out exploring, a recessed washbasin and a handy heated towel rail.

The inviting lounge has comfortable seating, wall-mounted smart TV, and double aspect windows.

There are two pretty patio areas, both with seating. On warmer days these are the ideal spots to gaze at the surroundings and soak up the beauty of this isolated setting while enjoying a moment of calm with a good book or a glass of wine.

Across the drive, the adjacent owner's house and garden are a delight to look out upon, and wildlife, including deer and red squirrels, can often be seen. The cottage adjoins Great Wood, a National Nature Reserve managed by the National Trust and part of England’s largest temperate rain forest.

The cottage makes the ideal base for both nature and adventure seekers, as well as those who like the convenience of town amenities nearby. There is an abundance of choice when it comes to walking routes from the doorstep including Derwentwater lakeside and the fells, or why not bring your bike with you to see even more of this beautiful area with pedal power. There is designated lockable storage for bikes and equipment.

Keswick offers plenty of options to keep you occupied during your stay. For walkers the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Trial which starts next to the Keswick Leisure centre is a 5 kilometre (10 kilometre there and back) walk along what was once a railway track. It offers beautiful views and is a multi-user trial suitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs and mobility scooters. If you fancy something with a little more elevation and spectacular views, Latrigg and Walla Crag can be reached from your doorstep, and you can even tick off some Wainwrights! 10 minutes out of Keswick is Whinlatter forest, which offers a huge selection of walks and outdoor activities.

Keswick itself offers lots of amenities, from shops to cafés, pubs to theatres, you will be spoilt for choice.

Absolutely Perfect!
We stayed at Deer Close Cottage primarily due to it's location in the Borrowdale Valley. We are 'bagging' the Wainwrights and the cottage is close enough to tick a few more off. It is only a short and very lovely walk into Keswick for a 'down' day and food/drink. The cottage is as beautiful as it looks on the website in a stunning, peaceful location. We were so pleased and the cottage far exceeded our expectations. It is extremely well equipped and so cosy, a home from home and not compact, such lovely space. There are lovely views from all rooms, perfect if staying in on a rainy day. Wildlife is abundant if you like watching birds/deer/cows, just bring a sack of bird food you will be constantly entertained! Lying in bed at night you can hear owls in the adjacent woods.... bliss. The owners are perfect hosts. Deer close cottage is situated in the immaculate grounds of their beautiful home and contactable if you have any questions otherwise you are left in total privacy. The terraces to the front and year are a blissful place to relax on a sunny day. To summarise, this cottage is 'Absolutely Perfect'! We will definitely be returning.

Hi Rebecca, Thank you for your lovely review of Deer Close Cottage. Staying at Deer Close Cottage means you can have the best of both worlds on your holiday. Situated on the outskirts next to the woods means you get to see lots of wildlife, such as deer, pheasants, squirrels and owls but you are close enough to walk down to the lake or in to the town centre where there are plenty of quirky shops and restaurants. We hope we can welcome you back again soon! Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

This is the perfect cottage for couples. It is very well appointed and the perfect location. Amazing outlook to the surrounding fells, close to Derwentwater and a lovely walk into Keswick. Saw deer in the forest behind the cottage and in the field at dusk. Many different birds at the feeders (take some seed with you), pheasants in the garden, as well as grey and red squirrels.
Beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting.
Perfect in every way.
