Being right on the water’s edge and amongst some of the most picturesque scenery this property is ideal for adventure lovers and all things outdoors

Description

If you’re seeking an extraordinary property for your holiday then look no further than Brandlehow. This private characterful cottage is positioned right on the edge of Derwentwater, with the Woods and Catbells behind, and even has a famous neighbour, the much loved ‘Teddy in the Window’!

Being right on the water’s edge and amongst some of the most picturesque scenery this property is ideal for adventure lovers and all things outdoors! There is plenty of space in the property to store bikes, paddleboards and kayaks, before launching from the front door!
The journey to this cottage is a wonderful experience in itself with stunning views on route, followed by a private access road through the woods to lead you to your holiday home.

On entering the property you’ll be greeted by the farmhouse style kitchen with plenty of worktop space, fridge-freezer, double sinks, and stove. There is a dishwasher, however you may find yourself volunteering to do the washing up just to admire the amazing views over Derwentwater! The large dining table makes this the perfect space to gather together with family and friends to socialise and dine. The utility off the kitchen provides plenty of space for boots and coats, and has a washing machine and dryer.

Pass through the spacious hallway, where there is access to the garden, to find yourself in the homely living room with leather sofas, wall mounted TV and cosy log burning stove.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms, two king bedrooms, one double and one single bedroom, all well furnished with solid furniture, quality Lake District artwork, and with beds dressed in luxury crisp linen. The master bedroom has the added bonus of a wall mounted TV and also an ensuite shower room.

The modern family bathroom is conveniently positioned between the bedrooms and has a bath with shower over.

There are two areas upstairs on the landings with seating, one of which also has a desk, where you can escape to take a quiet moment and admire the views.

Despite how lovely the house is, the enclosed garden with fire pit is most likely going to be where you’ll spend most of your time! The views and scenery are breath-taking (even on a dull day) and it would be difficult to find a more idyllic location! Private parking for two cars.

Fancy an extra treat for your holiday? Hot tub hire is available (add on extras page)

There is a Keswick Launch jetty nearby for easy access to attractions including Nichol End, Lingholm, and central Keswick. If you fancy an evening meal or drink closer to home the Borrowdale Gates and Lodore Falls are less than 1.5 miles away.

Keswick is a short walk away via the suspension bridge over the River Greta and a stroll down the Howrah’s footpath, where there is an abundance of shops, cafes and restaurants.

Please be aware the access road may flood during the rainy season, if this occurs the house can be accessed via a footpath at the rear.

Stunning location with extraordinary views
Brandlehow is the perfect place to relax and refuel. The location is superb, nestled in the woodlands and on the shores of Derwentwater. Most days began with a coffee overlooking the lake, watching the sunrise and the cloud disperse. Beautiful walks from the doorstep and of course a lot of kayaking right from the door. The water levels were incredibly high when we arrived so couldn't make the best use of the launches as we have in the past but enjoyed a trip later in the week. The footpath that runs adjacent to the garden is really only busy around lunchtime as it is midway round the lake loop. Delighted with the additional option of hiring a hot tub too. Beds are very comfy and the landing windows overlooking the lake were great to sit and look over the lake when it got cooler.
Stunning spot on the lake shore.
I doubt there can be many other properties that can match this location! Absolutely stunning. Great walks right from the house, Catbells, Newlands round etc.. once the round the lake walkers have disappeared for the day the silence is incredible. The house has really comfortable beds and good communal space. The garden has stunning views and great spot for a post walk beer.

Hi Anna, Thank you for your review. Brandlehow is in a stunning location on the shores of Derwentwater. The views across the lake are beautiful all year round and there are plenty of walks you can do right from the doorstep including the walk round the lake or a hike up Catbells. You can even hop on the launch from one of the nearby landings and head in to Keswick by boat. For an extra special treat you can add hot tub hire to your booking and relax in the peace and quiet after a day of exploring. We hope you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages.

Summer holiday at Brandlehow
My first experience dealing with Keswick cottages and they were happy to help me with regards to changing my check in and check out dates so that I could be there for my birthday which I was grateful for. When we arrived I was delighted to find a bottle of prosecco and lovely box of chocolates with a card which I thought was a really lovely touch. The house was perfect for us, two couples and two adult kids with plenty of space and comfortable beds. The outdoor space was great for late night fires, card and ball games. We soon became acquainted with a robin which we fed every morning along with duck food bought for the ducks that visited us at the lake shore. All in all it was a perfect week away filled with local walks and lovely food. I would definitely recommend Keswick cottages and would book with them again. Brandlehow is a wonderful place. Thanks again Keswick Cottages x

Outstanding property on the very shore of Derwent Water, with views and easy access to walks galore, but especially a dip in the lake ... and you can add a hot tub to recover some warmth! The Keswick Cottages team were superb from initial contact & booking through to arrival and the occasional request for advice during our stay ... well done to all!
We had a great week at Brandlehow … lakeside location is just stunning, and being at the foot of Cat Bells provides an awesome backdrop and temptation for walking. The problem is … the cottage is soooo comfy and has multiple nooks & spaces for chilling, reading, dozing. We loved it!!
Charming big house in an incredible location We spent a week-long family vacation in this house and really enjoyed it. The location directly at the lake was amazing. Although it is very remote, we hardly used the car as there are a lot of nice walks you can do from the house. Additionally, there is a jetty just two minutes walking distance from the house where a ferry to Keswick stops. The house is nice and very large. while the kitchen is very cosy, the furniture in the rest of the house is rather basic and not particularly charming or stylish. It's all about the location.
