Lovely cottage in walking distance of Keswick
We have recently returned from a 4 night break at Tawny cottage. Already knowing the Keswick area well we knew Portinscale would suit us well - outside the bustle of Keswick but within easy walking distance down a nice path, and easy access to local country walks. The cottage was immaculate in both cleanliness and decor - and well equipped - with off street parking. Our adult daughter had the 2nd bedroom with 2 single beds ( would have been a perk if was 2 singles which could be set up as a King size by request ) - but manageable for her as a single for 4 days . Lovely having an open fire for evenings - and the kitchen and lounge are very roomy. We would definitely return to Tawny and can recommend. Only blight of stay was spending 1 day of the stay with no water and a further 1.5 days with low pressure which meant we couldn't use the shower. Keswick cottages were good in their support although I did spend multiple phone calls to United Utilities ( local water company) myself. However this was not a problem with the property- it was a regional water supply problem to Portinscale which was unfortunate for us - so I did not let this affect my star rating. To conclude would recommend - nothing to fault - thank you !

Hi Gordon, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a detailed and generous five?star review of your stay at Tawny Cottage. We’re delighted to hear how much you enjoyed the location in Portinscale, the space and comfort of the cottage, and those cosy evenings by the open fire — it’s lovely to know it suited you and your family so well. We’re also very grateful for your understanding regarding the water supply issues during your stay. While, as you rightly note, this was a wider regional issue beyond our control, we’re glad we were able to support you throughout and stay in close contact to help as much as possible while the issue was ongoing. Thank you for recognising our efforts and for not allowing this to detract from your overall experience. It’s wonderful to hear that you would return to Tawny Cottage and would recommend it to others. We’d be very happy to welcome you back to the area in the future. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Hi David, Thank you for your review. Tawny Cottage in the lovely village of Portinscale is close to the village pub, the Chalet tearoom and village shop. The walk in to Keswick is a short flat walk but there are regular buses that run through the village. We hope you had a fantastic stay and we hope you can return again in the future. Great bade and facilities. Really impressed with everything, needed nothing. Found a lovely walk into Keswick centre, about a mile away.
Fantastic cottage, beautiful views from bedroom. Bedding was prestigious and comfortable. Quality cottage and furniture. Spacious in side.Thank you for the lovely stay at the cottage, had a wonderful time. 5 star for cleanliness’s spotless. Very cosy thank you for the great communication through out our stay.
This is a great cottage, with a really cozy and homely feel. I was really impressed with the furniture and finishes, which are quality and of a high standard. There isn't much in the village where it is located, but you are only 5 minutes walk from the lake, and 15 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive from the centre of Keswick. Lovely fell view from the kitchen window or back patio/garden. Very quiet, relaxed and chilled, just what we were looking for.
