Description

Enjoying a quiet, unspoilt rural location the Swan Hotel, a former 17th century coaching inn, has been sympathetically converted into several quality apartments.

On the edge of the village of Thornthwaite, within five minutes of Bassenthwaite Lake, surrounded by delightful scenery, Lords Seat is the ideal location for a relaxing break.

There is ample parking available at the property, which also benefits from large, shared grounds with pond, orangery, picnic/barbecue area and decking.

Lord's Seat is a fabulous three-bedroomed apartment situated on the first floor, with stunning views to the front and back. The apartment has been completed to a high standard with quality fixtures and fittings.

The property is entered via shared entrance hall and stairs.

Entering the hallway to your apartment, there is hanging space and storage for outdoor gear. From here, you'll find the fitted kitchen with fridge, freezer, electric oven and hob, microwave oven, washing machine and tumble dryer. The solid wood, Pippy Oak units are of a high quality with granite worktops and a small breakfast bar with views to Barf and Whinlatter.

Steps from the kitchen lead to the spacious, bright living-dining area with windows to front and back. The lounge has a feature fire-place with gas fired stove, TV, DVD, CD with mp3 and iPod docking station, comfortable leather settees, dining table and chairs.

Each of the three comfortable bedrooms enjoy views to Skiddaw, along the valley to Keswick and the mountains beyond. The master bedroom has king-size sleigh bed, TV and en-suite shower room with basin and WC.

The second bedroom has twin beds and the third bedroom has a double bed. All bedrooms will be dressed in luxury linen and towels.

The family bathroom has a large bath with shower over, twin basins, WC and views to Barf.

The perfect place to enjoy a relaxing Lake District holiday, Thornthwaite has plenty of walks right on its doorstep: everything from fine tops to valley rambles. For cyclists, there is a cycle path passing through Thornthwaite, with incredible links to the rest of the North Lakes cycling paths.

For those looking for a slower pace, Bassenthwaite Lake has plenty of opportunities to sail and fish, or take in the surrounding wildlife. The southern tip of Bassenthwaite has been transformed into a wildlife sanctuary, so keep an eye out for the local fauna! During the season, the famous Bassenthwaite Ospreys can often be seen flying overhead.

If you’re looking to venture out into the Lake District without a car, Thornthwaite is serviced by the X4 and X5 bus services, running all the way from Workington to Penrith, linking Thornthwaite to local train stations.

Thank you
The lords seat was a lovely place to stay, very comfortable and clean. Great location with amazing views. Nice to have the extras like the dvds and games. The only disappointing thing was the water going off (ironic in the lake district) but obviously not your fault. The only thing that would have helped is instructions on a couple of things. We struggled with the hob as it clicks off every time we put the pan on and hadnt used that sort of hob before so took a while to figure it out. It was a lovely place to stay. Thank you for letting us stay there.

Hello, Theresa! We're glad that you enjoyed your stay at Lords Seat. The location and views are amazing! We're all about the little extra touches-- hopefully you enjoyed the games! We apologise for the inconvenience with the water outage. Thankfully, United Utilities were able to fix the issue as soon as we were made aware. Prior to arrival, you will receive a digital guide, which contains everything you need to know before and during your stay. This includes things like how to use the appliances, and even helpful local tips and recommendations. Keep an eye out for the guide on your next stay! Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

A lovely flat ideally situated near Keswick
A lovely flat ideally situated near Keswick. Easy access to Keswick (approx 3.5 miles), Buttermere, Catbells etc etc. Bus stop just outside accommodation with frequent buses to and from Keswick if required, even late into the evening

Hi Stephen, Thank you for your review. Lord's Seat just outside of Keswick is the perfect base for a holiday in the Lakes. There are plenty of walks you can do from the doorstep including Barf and a lovely walk through Powter How woods to the shore of Bassenthwaite. The views of Bassenthwaite from the apartment are beautiful and can be enjoyed whatever the weather. The bus stop outside is very handy for trips in to Keswick or further afield. Lake District holiday home
We had a lovely few days at Lord's Seat. Having never visited the Lake District before the property was a great location and allowed us to have a very convenient base for visiting a number of local areas. Being near to Keswick, but not within it, makes it a great location. Being able to just walk out from the property onto footpaths was an extra bonus. Lord's Seat was well equipped, especially the kitchen, and everything was clean and welcoming when we arrived. There were lots of little touches that make it homely and inviting. Would definitely visit again and would recommend.

Hi Clair, Thank you for your review. The quiet location of Lord's Seat make it the perfect place to relax. There are plenty of walks near by including a walk through Powter How woods down to the shores of Bassenthwaite. The views from the apartment are stunning, especially on a clear day. We hope you had a fantastic time and that we an welcome you back again soon. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Everything was amazing! Location, views from every window, facilities, comfort, cleanliness. We would love to return one day!
Very costly and quiet. Loved the stay and perfect for a big group
Lords view was a gem, superb views, lovely gardens and lots of parking, easy 3 miles drive to Keswick & Portinscale. Great location to explore other areas of the Lakes. Apartment is spotless, spacious, beautifully appointed, very well equipped. Beds were very comfortable, heating levels perfect, can top up with gas log fire, very cosy. Lovely extra touches, loved the in house tablet with house rules, appliance instructions and suggested activities. There was ample storage and areas for muddy boots & wet gear. We could not fault and will be definitely returning.
