Enjoying a quiet, unspoilt rural location the Swan Hotel, a former 17th century coaching inn, has been sympathetically converted into several quality apartments.
On the edge of the village of Thornthwaite, within five minutes of Bassenthwaite Lake, surrounded by delightful scenery, Lords Seat is the ideal location for a relaxing break.
There is ample parking available at the property, which also benefits from large, shared grounds with pond, orangery, picnic/barbecue area and decking.
Lord's Seat is a fabulous three-bedroomed apartment situated on the first floor, with stunning views to the front and back. The apartment has been completed to a high standard with quality fixtures and fittings.
The property is entered via shared entrance hall and stairs.
Entering the hallway to your apartment, there is hanging space and storage for outdoor gear. From here, you'll find the fitted kitchen with fridge, freezer, electric oven and hob, microwave oven, washing machine and tumble dryer. The solid wood, Pippy Oak units are of a high quality with granite worktops and a small breakfast bar with views to Barf and Whinlatter.
Steps from the kitchen lead to the spacious, bright living-dining area with windows to front and back. The lounge has a feature fire-place with gas fired stove, TV, DVD, CD with mp3 and iPod docking station, comfortable leather settees, dining table and chairs.
Each of the three comfortable bedrooms enjoy views to Skiddaw, along the valley to Keswick and the mountains beyond. The master bedroom has king-size sleigh bed, TV and en-suite shower room with basin and WC.
The second bedroom has twin beds and the third bedroom has a double bed. All bedrooms will be dressed in luxury linen and towels.
The family bathroom has a large bath with shower over, twin basins, WC and views to Barf.
The perfect place to enjoy a relaxing Lake District holiday, Thornthwaite has plenty of walks right on its doorstep: everything from fine tops to valley rambles. For cyclists, there is a cycle path passing through Thornthwaite, with incredible links to the rest of the North Lakes cycling paths.
For those looking for a slower pace, Bassenthwaite Lake has plenty of opportunities to sail and fish, or take in the surrounding wildlife. The southern tip of Bassenthwaite has been transformed into a wildlife sanctuary, so keep an eye out for the local fauna! During the season, the famous Bassenthwaite Ospreys can often be seen flying overhead.
If you’re looking to venture out into the Lake District without a car, Thornthwaite is serviced by the X4 and X5 bus services, running all the way from Workington to Penrith, linking Thornthwaite to local train stations.
