A lovely apartment in a beautiful part of the world
The cottage was part of a large former hotel and it has been converted very sympathetically. The rooms are large, clean, and comfortable - we had a lot of space for the two of us (and the dog!) One of my favourite things was the picture window in the lounge, with beautiful views across the countryside down to the lake. The beds were very comfortable and the area was quiet. We did have a couple of issues with the boiler going off and the kettle not working but these were dealt with quickly. Beside that, everything was great and we had a wonderful time - shame about the rain!

Hi Cheryl, Thank you for your review. Lake View Cottage in Thornthwaite is a great location for a holiday in the Lakes. It is located near some great walks such as Barf and Wythop and Keswick is only a 10 minute car or bus journey away. I'm glad we could get the issues sorted quicky for you and we hope you had a fantastic stay despite the weather! Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Perfect!!
Our 1 week stay at this property was fantastic. Close enough to Keswick (4 miles) for shops and supplies but far away enough to feel secluded. The property was one of several on the site but we were not overlooked or encroached upon in any way. The apartment was spotlessly clean, modern and very comfortable. 2 bedrooms (1 en-suite) were very spacious, comfortable with loads of storage. Both bathrooms had lovely hot and powerful showers and the kitchen was large and fully equipped. - Beware the secret cutlery drawer which is contained within the crockery drawer (haha). Living room was also very spacious with a lovely comfy sofa, 2 armchairs and a 4 seat dining table. TV and WiFi also. - perfect for our needs. Outside there is a spacious 1st floor patio area, with plenty of table and seating and the view to die for. Outside there are very well kept grounds, manicured lawns a a large pond - there is even a communal, covered BBQ area which is free to use as long as you tidy up afterwards. A short 7-8 minute walk out of the apartment to the main road, turn right then immediately right to a woodland car park, there is a gate in the bottom corner, through the gate and follow the beautiful woodland path round the base of the wooded hill, through another gate which leads to am underpass under the A66 you will come to Bassenthwaite lake - perfect for dog walks etc. We had the lake pretty much to ourselves whenever we walked the dogs. In short, a perfect little retreat, to relax and unwind with a view to die for, set in beautiful grounds. We've booked to come again next year and are already looking forward to it

Hi Bev, Thank you for your review. Lake View Cottage is in a stunning location with beautiful views of Bassenthwaite Lake and the surrounding fells. The walk down to the lake through Powter How woods is lovely and perfect for a stroll with a pooch. The bus stop right outside the property makes it easy to just hop on a bus to Keswick without the need to use your car or you can head in the other direction towards the Western Lake District. We are thrilled to hear that you have already booked for next year and we can't wait to welcome you back! Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Brilliant cott
Another lovely vacation in Lake View Cottage in Thornthwaite One important issue The right hand stair rail as you leave the cottage is rotting and the whole structure is loose and potentially dangerous

Thank you for your lovely review of Lake View Cottage, we are so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. Located in Thornthwaite, a short drive from Keswick, Lake View Cottage offers a more tranquil location to enjoy your break, but with plenty to do on your doorstep! Thank you for notifying us of the stair rail also, I can assure you the owner and the building managers are now aware of the issue and will work towards getting it sorted. We hope to welcome you back to Lake View in the future! Best Wishes, Keswick Cottages

Very clean, well equipped kitchen, nice grounds and fabulous views front and back. Good location for exploring the northern lakes.
We had the most incredible stay at this beautiful property in the Lake District. From the moment we arrived, everything felt welcoming and thoughtfully prepared. The location was perfect: peaceful and secluded, but only a short drive (or a long, scenic walk!) to some amazing views, great pubs, and some fantastic hiking trails. We loved being able to set off on foot and find hidden tarns and breathtaking views without even needing the car.Inside, everything was spotlessly clean and incredibly well-equipped . The bed was one of the most comfortable we've ever slept in, and waking up to the mist rolling over the hills was pure magic. Our host was fantastic — friendly, quick to communicate. If you're looking for a peaceful, charming base to explore the Lake District, you honestly couldn't do better. We didn’t want to leave — and we're already planning our next visit!
It was just like home from home, everything you could ever need is right there. Great place to stay and make memories that last a lifetime, would definitely return. Highly recommended.
