A charming Lakeland 'snug' with views of Skiddaw, Barf Cottage is situated in the tranquil village on the edge of Derwentwater. Within an easy 20 minute walk to the market town of Keswick the cottage is a stone throw away from the local pub The Farmers Arms, a 5 minute walk from 'The Chalet' tearooms and a 10 minute walk to Derwent and Nicole End Marinas. The cottage retains all the original features of a traditional Lakeland home yet at the same time offers modern fixtures, comfort and style. A small yet characterful front garden has outdoor seating to enjoy that 'post hike' drink on sunny afternoons and evenings. The cottage serves as a wonderful bolthole for couples, small groups of friends or families.
This was a lovely well equipped cosy cottage in an ideal location. It was so nice to stay somewhere which didn't have a lot of rules and regulations and we felt very relaxed and at home, as did our 2 doggies, Moomin and Lemmy!Maxine

Jasmine is the perfect retreat for couples, there is both a pub and formal dining within a couple minutes walk from the doorstep, the cottage is only minutes away from the shores of Derwentwater and a 20 minute easy stroll into Keswick. The property has a traditional and welcoming feel with original beams and a cast iron wood burning stove for snug evenings in. Outside there is a patio area with outdoor seating, ideal for that sunny afternoon. Free unlimited Wi-Fi.
Our second stay with Keswick Cottages and no doubt there will be a third. The level of service and attention to detail is second to none. Communications are courteous and timely and the team are so friendly and knowledgeable. In our experience nothing is a problem for them - a missing ironing board was sorted out within 2 hours even though I'd said it would be a couple of days before I would need to use it! The cottage we stayed at was excellent, exactly as described and spotlessly clean and welcoming on our arrival. We can't recommend Keswick Cottages highly enough.Ann and Bryan

The cottage was in a perfect location. My son commented that the view from the living room was like a painting. The cottage was very comfortable and we wanted for nothing. The local pub was lovely. The walk into Keswick was very enjoyable. I could fault nothingLynn

The cottage is perfect, cosy and fully equipped! The bath and shower are amazing after a day out on the lake and walks. We stayed with our 2 young children and found the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. Portinscale is a lovely little village and easy walk with the pram into Keswick.Sarah
