tiful village of Braithwaite is located just over 2 miles from the bustling market town of Keswick. With a picturesque village shop, pet-friendly pubs and plenty of walks nearby, there is no need to leave the village.
Braithwaite is a great starting point for any and all outdoor pursuits. As you step out of your cottage, pop on your boots and start exploring! Grisedale Pike, Barrow, Outerside, and the Coledale Horseshoe are all on your doorstep. If you fancy venturing out, the beautiful Newlands Valley and famous Catbells are just a 5-minute drive away.

Kids big and small will find plenty to do at Whinlatter. Hire a bike and race down one of the many exhilarating mountain bike trails, or take advantage of the free activities such as the adventure playground and Gruffalo trail. If you prefer something more relaxing, grab a map from the visitor hub and take in the wildfire and fantastic views on one of the many woodland walks.
Head up the hill to Coledale Inn and take in the spectacular views whilst you enjoy some homemade food and local ales. If you’re looking for something extra special, then indulge yourself with some Michelin-star cuisine at The Cottage in the Wood. We highly recommend the tasting menu.
With a cycle path running to Keswick and regular X4/X5 bus services, Braithwaite is the ideal base for exploring the Lake District.
