Five Valentine’s Gift Ideas for Lake District Lovers

There might be only one thing you love more than your partner…

No, not your dog!

Maybe your dog…

Apart from your dog (or cat, or hamster, or ball python) there’s only one thing we know you love as much as your partner…

The Lake District!

And if they love the Lakes just as much as you do, here’s our gift guide for Lake District lovers!

A Valentine’s Weekend Break in the Lakes

What’s a better way to spend any weekend than in the Lakes?

Drive up, or get the train, and enjoy a weekend with all the same home comforts in a new location. Why choose a hotel?

Stay in Central Keswick, and spend your mornings in a cafe, shopping, or exploring Derwentwater. In the evenings, dine in, or head to elm cafe to enjoy a cocktail, snack, starter, main, side, and dessert for just £45pp. Then, return to your own private retreat. Unwind with your favourite show or film, a good brew, and head to bed without worrying about being woken up by housekeeping, missing breakfast, or noise from neighbouring rooms.

Try the neighbouring villages for a quieter break, with Braithwaite Village shop available for odds and ends during your self-catering break, Bassenthwaite Lake Station for a special treat, breakfast, or afternoon tea.

Or, for your classic pub experience, we love the Coledale and Horse and Farrier.

A Walking Boots Bag

There’s nothing worse than muddy boots.

You can take them off before you get in the car, but then you’ve still got mud all over your seats, floor, or boot. What gives?

For the keen walker in your life, gift them the kit they wouldn’t think to buy themselves.

This hiking boots bag from A1GraphicsLtd on Etsy is perfect for storing muddy boots, and you can even embroider it with their initials for that personal touch.

Lake District Wall Art

First Valentine’s in your new house?

Or, looking to help them bring a little colour to their home?

There’s plenty of Lake District wall art to browse, made by local and independent creatives. We’re all about supporting local, and buying local artwork is far more romantic than anything you can find in department stores.

This ‘Colours of the Lake District‘ print is subtle, tasteful, and easily brightens up a space.

Fancy something pretty and pink? This trio comes from ParadiseLaneStudios and is absolutely stunning! More the opposite? Try this moodier set.

We love this this ‘Periodic Table of the Lake District’ print, ideal for Lakes and science lovers. Do we have any science teachers that moonlight as fell walkers?

Apparel

If they love the Lakes, pin it on a t-shirt.

For a more generic style take a look at this jumper from FabricEmber, available in a variety of colours.

Everybody loves socks. And more socks.

Get practical with these made-to-measure cargo pants.

Or, for the cold Lakes days (and we have many…) try these sweaters and hoodies, for new, reluctant-yet-determined hikers.

Local Foods

Want a taste of the Lakes, minus the travel?

Cumbria is home to some of the world’s best food, if we do say so ourselves.

From rum butter to Cumberland sausage, sticky toffee pudding to Kendal Mint Cake, there’s something to satisfy every craving.

You can pick up some rum butter from Quiggin’s online, or roll your sleeves up and get making your own with this recipe from good old Delia Smith.

Cumberland sausage can be purchased from all (good) supermarkets and butchers, and there’s even a vegan alternative available at Tesco.

Why not make up a Cumbrian Care Package, with sweet treats like Kendal Mint Cake, Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding, Grasmere Gingerbread  and some Wild and Fruitful sauces or jams. We might be biased, but their Keswick Ketchup is incredible.

And with that…

If that doesn’t help solve some of the mystery as to what to get that special someone this Valentine’s… we don’t know what else to tell you!

Psst… if a break in the Lakes sounds like the perfect gift, you can give us a call on 017687 80088, or, email us on [email protected], for extra discretion…

And if you know that the Lakes is the place for you, but want to take the guesswork out of gift-giving, why not grab them a gift voucher? All the credit, none of the stress!

Or, give us a call. Tell us a bit about yourself and your partner, and we’ll help you to plan your perfect break.

Happy Valentine’s!
