Reviews

Wonderful few days away in a perfect location.
Wonderful few days away in Coleridge Cottage. Location was perfect with parking just a short walk away. I didn't use the car once while here. An abundance of walks right from the doorstep. Although the property is on a main road into Keswick it was so quiet and peaceful. Just a five minute stroll into town centre. Everything about the property was excellent except that with one shower and toilet upstairs and one toilet downstairs, it might have been a bit difficult with a family or group staying there. Communication with Keswick Cottages was excellent. All information given before and after stay made it very easy. I couldn't get TV to work (followed instructions) but didn't contact anyone as I decided to enjoy the peace and quiet! Overall a fantastic stay in a great location.

Hi, Alison! Thank you so much for your lovely and thoughtful review — it really made us smile. We’re delighted you had a wonderful few days at Coleridge Cottage. It’s such a great spot for exploring, and we completely agree that having so many walks right from the doorstep (and being able to forget about the car!) is one of the big perks of staying there. We’re really glad the cottage felt peaceful despite being on the main road, and that the short stroll into town worked perfectly for you. It’s also lovely to hear that everything in the property was excellent overall. You’re absolutely right that the bathroom layout is best suited to couples or small groups, and your feedback is very helpful for future guests. And thank you for your kind words about our communication — we do try to make everything easy and stress?free from start to finish, so it means a lot to hear that it helped. As for the TV, we’re so sorry it didn’t play ball for you. If that ever happens again, please do give us a ring — even if you decide to embrace the peace and quiet in the end! We’re always more than happy to help, and we could’ve had someone pop over to sort it in no time. Most importantly, we’re thrilled you had a fantastic stay in such a lovely location. We’d be delighted to welcome you back whenever you’re next in Keswick. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Needs a clean
Location is ideal but cleanliness is not to the standard we are used to when booking with Keswick cottages. Cobwebs in living area , dust on sofas and tables. Walls could do with painting too. None of these are huge issues just annoyances as was the fact we had to buy batteries for the central heating thermostat to maintain the heating and hot water. Fortunately one of our party is a heating engineer so knew how to fix the problem. Reasonably well equipped and it wouldn't take much to have changed this review to a 5 star one.

Hi, Gordon! Thank you very much for taking the time to share such honest and constructive feedback — it really does help us improve, and we appreciate the balanced way you’ve written it. We’re delighted to hear you found the location ideal and that the cottage was reasonably well equipped. At the same time, we’re genuinely sorry that the cleanliness and a couple of maintenance details let the experience down for you. That’s not the standard we’re known for, and certainly not the one we want you to experience. If we’d known about the cobwebs, dust, or the thermostat batteries during your stay, we’d have sent someone straight over — even out of hours — to put things right. We’re always more than happy to help with those little niggles, and it’s frustrating to hear you ended up having to fix the heating yourselves (though we’re glad your party had a heating engineer on hand!). Thank you for flagging these points — they’re already being followed up with housekeeping and maintenance. Your comment that it wouldn’t have taken much to turn this into a 5?star review is really valuable feedback for us, and we’re taking it exactly in the spirit it was intended. A quick freshen?up of the décor and closer attention to detail will go a long way, and we’ll make sure those things are addressed. We’re genuinely sorry this stay didn’t quite meet the standard you’ve come to expect from us, and we’d love the chance to welcome you back to show you the experience you should always have with Keswick Cottages. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

We had a great week's stay at Coleridge Cottage. The house has a spacious downstairs, with a big living/dining room and a kitchen that has pretty much one of everything. The bedrooms are decent sized and the beds well equipped with nice sheets and lots of pillows (they're comfortable, too!). We stayed in January, and very much enjoyed the fact that the heating warms the house up pretty quickly and that the shower runs nice and hot. Keswick Cottages were great with communication, giving us all the info we needed in plenty of time, and responding rapidly to emails. Basically, a fine stay, in a really good house, provided by really efficient people!
Nice cottage in central Keswick location on the main road. Kitchen well equipped & house comfortable for a group of 4 friends. Helpfully some free parking was provided in nearby cafe car park.
Lovely cottage, stayed here twice now 2022 & 2025. Fantastic location walking distance from town and centrally placed to drive to many lakes and forests. The cottage itself is always lovely and feels like home. The front bedroom is a little noisy being next to the main road so take some ear plugs. Overall great and would stay again.
