The Whinlatter forest park popular for walking, outdoor activities and cycling, is also right next door and there are many walks to be enjoyed in the surrounding area together with a chance to see Ospreys which nest nearby. The village of Braithwaite is a mile down the road with 2 pubs and Keswick is just 2 miles away offering evening theatre, cinema and town shopping including the well renowned Booths Supermarket. Great site near Bassenthwaite, easy access to Keswick and the northern lakes. Beautiful patio with a view to Skiddaw and thew lovely garden. Well appointed kitchen, comfortable bedrooms and common space.
Donene from Wisconsin 19th May 2018
Far enough away from the bustle of Keswick to be relaxing but not too far if you need shops etc. Great views across Bassenthwaite lake to the Skiddaw range. The accommodation is very good with everything you might need for your stay. Plenty of walking from Thornthwaight village and only minutes drive away from Borrowdale and Newlands valley. Pubs ,food etc. at nearby Braithwaite 1.5ml. or Keswick 2.5ml.
Philip from Liversedge 14th April 2018
This was our second visit to Lake View. The views are to die for. Accessible location in an inspiration setting. Well worth the journey through blizzards on the A66 to get there. The weather over there was kind to us although very cold. Looking forward to another visit to Lake View later in the year.

We were luckyo to find this little gem at such short notice. Our stay owas originally in Scotland but we left after 9 days due to bad weather and l to stay in the Lake District for the remaining 4 days. After contacting Keswick Cottages we were offered Lake View Cottage. It's really one of several apartments which was originally the Swan Hotel. Lake view is extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean with a large balcony offering the most amazing views of Skiddaw and surrounding fells. You also have glimpses of Bassenthwaite Lake. As the weather was so warm we enjoyed breakfast here every morning looking down on the beautifully laid out communial garden and pond. The kitchen is very well equipped as is the family bathroom. it was also a pleasure to have one bedroom with an ensuite. There is a lounge diner which is well furnished however it's a little tight around the table due to the layout. A small point really as everything else is very comfortable. Overall it's a lovely property in a beautiful position.
