Ghyll Bank and Ghyll Bank Cottage are two very tastefully restored cottages, full of character with oak beams and inset log burning stoves in a spectacular setting looking out towards Causey Pike and up towards Catbells.  These properties are in an ideal location if you want tranquility, natural surroundings, views from every window, walks in every direction from the doorstep and easy access to Keswick which is only 15 minutes drive through some stunning scenery.

The cottage is finished to a high standard and offers excellent accommodation with walks from the doorstep. This cottage offers superb family accommodation and has oil fired central heating, plenty of parking and private patio to the rear looking up to the fells. Ghyll Bank Cottage is the smaller of the two semi-detached cottages but with no less character or facilities. The very cosy lounge has two large, very comfortable sofas, an inset log burning stove in the original slate surround, TV, CD player etc. There are beams in this room as throughout the cottage and fabulous view toward the fells. The kitchen is very spacious with plenty of worktop space and is superbly fitted and has electric oven & hob, integrated dishwasher, integrated fridge & freezer, microwave etc. In this room there is a large pine dining table and six matching chairs. Off the kitchen there is a utility room with a washing machine, plenty of coat hooks and access the patio. On the ground floor there is also a cloakroom with WC and wash hand basin. Upstairs there are three very pretty bedrooms. The main double room is very spacious and finished with pine bed, wardrobes and units. From this room you look up towards the fells. There is a small, second double bedroom again with the most spectacular views out towards the fells. On the second floor via a twisting staircase there is a fabulous twin room full of character with its sloping ceilings and exposed beams. This room is lovely and bright. The bathroom has bath with shower over, WC wash basin and tiled floor. There is a utility room with a washing machine and plenty of hanging space. To the back of the cottage is a patio area where you can relax and just take in the scenery. This cottage has a lovely warm feel about it and offers a lovely standard of accommodation throughout. Towels are not provided.

We had a lovely quiet stay in the Newlands Valley at Ghyll Bank Cottage by Keswick Cottages. First Class cottage, very cosy and plenty of room to relax. Lovely big Kitchen was great with great facilities. The location is fantastic, being out in the wilds with easy access to some great hill walking on the surrounding fells and close to Derwent Water but also close to Keswick and all of it's attractions. Would fully recommend this cottage as a great place to stay and Keswick Cottages with simple booking and great support.

The cottage is very nice for a break away from it all. It’s in a secluded location next to two other properties (which were vacant during our stay). Great views of Cat Bells, which you can walk to from the cottage. The cottage is clean, warm and cosy with a log burner in the living room. The kitchen is big and well equipped although the oven runs very cool. There’s a nice pub about a mile away and easy to walk to. It can get busy so it’s useful to book if you’re eating there. Keswick is about a 15 minute drive away. The staff at Keswick Cottages were really helpful during our stay and we would love to visit again.

Had a lovely tranquil week at Ghyll Bank. Have stayed here and in Ghyll Bank Cottage before as they are ideal for a peaceful holiday in beautiful surroundings and perfectly located for a walking holiday and for relaxing. Ghyll Bank is also an attractive, roomy and comfortable property with lots of character and it's enjoyable just to be in there! Fantastic views. Great location for exploring Newlands and also not far from other great areas to explore. Loweswater is lovely and unspoiled too.

We booked the house and the cottage for a family gathering. The location is great. You can walk from the door and fins a number of different walks. The houses are well furnish and equipped. They were warm and made for a great place to stay. I wpould highly recommend this to anyone.

Have stayed at Ghyll Bank before and Ghyll Bank Cottage was just as good in a smaller package. Cottage is well-equipped, practical, fresh and cosy. The setting is tranquil, beautiful and perfect for a quiet holiday walking and just enjoying the lovely Newlands Valley. Also handy for North Lakes. Secluded and peaceful yet just 5-10 minutes off the A66. Had a marvellous few days just enjoying the scenery and tranquility and relaxing. Will be back!

A well equipped, roomy cottage in a beautiful location. Catbells view from the garden. Ample parking so leave the car and enjoy the abundant walks from the door. Riverside walks, fell walks, lakeside walks & a pub a mile from the door along a quiet country lane. Highly recommend this cottage.

This is the 7th time we have stayed either at Ghyll Bank Cottage or its sister cottage Ghyll Bank situated next door. This time we stayed at Ghyll Bank Cottage which is slightly smaller. As ever 'Keswick Cottages' provided a stunning service and once again it was a delightful stay. The cottage is beautifully appointed with stunning views across the Newlands Valley and to 'Catbells'. The Cottage was very clean and tidy upon arrival and very comfortable to stay in. Keswick Cottages provided very thoughtful touches such as a tea tray upon arrival and a binder packed with local information, places to eat and various discounts to be had in Keswick. Parking is right outside the door and there are numerous walks of all types right from the door. So... you have literally everything on your doorstep. Braithwaite is a small village a couple of miles away, so you don't even need to venture into Keswick if you don't want to. This really is an exceptional base for exploring Keswick and the surrounding area. I also have to say that the staff at Keswick Cottages provide an exceptional service. We had a flat battery on our car and were stranded at the Cottage. Rebecca kindly arranged for a neighbour to give us a jump start. Hugh also assisted with us being inept at working the TV, and as ever the staff are very friendly and courteous on the phone. What more can you ask for from a company? That is why we keep returning year after year. The other properties we have stayed in are also equally as good as Ghyll Bank Cottage. Thanks a million KC and we will see you again next year!

Lovely cottage, stunning views and great weather, what more could you ask ! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - it was the first time in the Newlands Valley area, but it won't be the last. We've stayed there before and it's perfect for what we look for in a holiday - scenery, excellent walking and away from the madding crowd ;o) The cottage has everything and is nice and cosy. Everything works, the bed's nice and comfy and if you're lucky enough to get a clear night it's dark enough to see the billions of stars that are out there. All in all a perfect holiday, even though we went in what many would consider 'out of season'. Rest assured we'll be back again.
