Theatre by the Lake has a history spanning all the way back to the 1940s, with history in the Mods movement and Dame Judy Dench herself!
If you fancy something to eat before or after the performance, or even just a good lunch spot next to Derwentwater, the Lakeside Café and Spotlight Bar are right next door. The café is open from 09:00 – 16:00 daily and serve some lovely lunches, cakes and coffees. Pre-show dining is also available to book from 17:00 until 60 minutes before the performance.
The Spotlight bar is open Monday-Saturday, 12:00 to 16:00 on non-performance days, and 12pm to 30 mins after the performance on performance days.

Booking: We always advise booking tickets for performances in advance, as shows usually sell out! Pre-theatre dining for evening performances can be booked via the Theatre by the Lake website. Otherwise, tables at the Lakeside Café and Spotlight Bar are unreserved and subject to availability. Simply show up and enjoy some good food, cakes, and coffee!
Dogs: Dogs are welcome in the Lakeside Café, though dogs in the theatre are limited to assistance dogs only.
Allergens: The café and restaurant menus are not available online, though a TripAdvisor response from Theatre by the Lake states that they ‘cater for all dietaries [sic] and can adapt dishes to suit everyone. Please have a look online and if you give us enough notice we can even cook your favourite dish‘.
