The Cottage in the Wood

Perched 1,000ft up in the Whinlatter Forest above Braithwaite, The Cottage in the Wood is a unique Michelin-listed Restaurant combining Jack Bond’s creative cooking, friendly service and a warm welcome in a stunning natural setting.

Jack’s passion for Cumbria comes from his family holidays here during his childhood. He has experience working at some of the best restaurants in the world including Eleven Madison Park, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Claridge’s and the Berkeley. His cooking style focuses on flavour and sustainability, making the menu at Cottage in the Wood so unique! His wife and business partner Beth also has a background in managing sustainable restaurants, including the acclaimed Apricity Restaurant in Mayfair.

Cottage in the Woods provides an experience like no other within the most beautiful backdrop. Nestled within England’s highest mountain forest Whinlatter, the restaurant provides the most cosy atmosphere.

Their two tasting menus alternate day to day; in the evening they offer a 7 course tasting menu for £120, and a lighter 5 course tasting menu for lunch at £75. Alongside this they offer wine matching that highlights interesting grapes, regions, growers and makers. Reservations are open 6 months in advance.

The menus are unique, and really get you to try foods you may have never tried before! The experience would make a fantastic treat for an anniversary, birthday or to just top off a fantastic holiday.
