The Sandbox Cafe

The image shows families playing with radio-controlled (RC) diggers, lorries, and excavation vehicles in a sandpit, located inside a cafe.
There’s nothing like it anywhere else in the Lake District!

Keswick’s most playful coffee spot!

Enjoy artisan coffee, homemade cakes, and the chance to operate realistic radio-controlled diggers, dumpers, and loaders in the giant indoor sandpit.

Inspired by both parenthood and international concepts, The Sandbox Café is Keswick’s first ever café where you can sip locally roasted coffee while operating 1/14 scale die-cast construction vehicles.

They look, feel, and operate just like the real thing, and can be booked in 30-min slots, or watched from the counter-seating.

Perfect for dates, solo trips, or family days out, the Sandbox is sure to suit families with children of different ages. Whether they want to operate the vehicles, or relax in the upstairs lounge and watch the world go by- or, just scroll on their phones…

Fun for all ages – from kids to “big kids” alike.

Their coffee comes from Carvetti, which is based on the outskirts of Keswick in Threlkeld, and all of their homemade cakes are supplied by the Buttermere Baking Company. It doesn’t get much more local than that!

For anyone looking for a long weekend bank holiday in the Lakes, the Sandbox is open Wednesday to Sunday, 10:00-18:00, as well as bank holiday Mondays!
