Providing a variety of outdoor activities, Keswick Extreme are experts when it comes to outdoor adventures in the Lake District. If you’re feeling brave or want to push yourself out of your comfort zone, here are a selection of the activities they have on offer!
River Tubing
A first for the Lake District, River Tubing consists of a ‘Tube’ (looks like a water ring), and paddle and yourself paddling down river whilst enjoying the scenery and wildlife. For those wanting a bit more white water action, you can opt to take on the rapid section!
All safety gear and 4-5mm wetsuit provided.
Suitable for age 7 and upwards, and those under 18 stone.
Duration 2.5 hrs.
Ghyll Scrambling
Ghyll Scrambling, which is also known as Gorge Walking and Canyoning is a fantastic activity to do in the Lake District (this might have something to do with all the rain!). The Keswick Extreme guides will take you on a journey down a steep and rocky mountain river where you will experience rapid sections of the gorge, slide down rock slides, swim through bubbling plunge pools and (if your feeling brave) leap over the edge of waterfalls.
All safety equipment is included, however you must bring trainers and swimwear/ underwear to get wet, a pair of old shorts to protect the wetsuit and dry shoes, clothes and towel for afterwards.
Suitable for ages 7+.
Duration 2.5-3 hrs.
Climb The Mine
Want to take on an underground adventure? Explore a subterranean world with the guides at Keswick Extreme; tackle walkways, ladders, rope bridges, traverses and more in the old mining caverns! The route follows the original slate mine workings dating back to the late 1800’s.
Minimum of 4 people per booking if placing booking online (give the team a call if you wish to book with a smaller group size).
Due to the size of the ladders and height of safety cables you must be at least 1.4m (4 ft 7) tall to participate. Minimum age 1o years.
Duration approx. 3 hrs
Via Ferrata Extreme
Italian for “the iron way”, Via Ferrata has all the adrenaline of rock climbing with some extra features such as Burma bridges, cargo-net climbs and some heart-racing ascents up exposed rock. Don’t worry though, you are attached to a safety line the entire time! It truly is an experience like no other!

Due to the size of the ladders and height of safety cables you must be at least 1.4m (4 ft 7) tall to participate. Minimum age 1o years.
Duration 4 hrs.
Ghyll Extreme
So you’ve tackled ghyll scrambling before, and now your wanting to challenge yourself, look no further than Ghyll Extreme. Here you will be introduced to Canyoning, larger waterfalls and gorges where you will use ropes to descend into the ghyll. Don’t worry though, Keswick Extremes experienced guides are on hand to keep you safe!
All safety equipment is included, however you must bring trainers and swimwear/ underwear to get wet, a pair of old shorts to protect the wetsuit and dry shoes, clothes and towel for afterwards.
Suitable for ages 12+.
Duration up to 4hrs.
Climb and Abseil Combo
The perfect introduction to the world of rock climbing, Keswick Extreme provide climb and abseil combo sessions to give you your first taste of Lake District rock! With experienced instructors on hand you will learn a new skill and earn some major bragging rights!
All safety gear is provided, Make sure you are dressed for changeable weather and wear trainers or boots.
Suitable for ages 7+.

Monster Paddle Boarding
You will have heard of Paddle Boarding, but have you heard of Monster Paddle Boarding? A truly unique experience, great for groups of friends/ families, work together to navigate the lake on a super sized paddle board.
All equipment is provided, just make sure you are dressed to get wet and bring a towel and dry clothes for afterwards!
Suitable for 5 + years.
Minimum group size 6. Duration approx. 3hrs.
