Bassenthwaite Lake Station is one of the Lake District’s most characterful destinations—a lovingly restored railway station complete with a full‑size replica Orient Express train, famously featured in Murder on the Orient Express. Located opposite the peaceful Dubwath Silver Meadows nature reserve, it offers visitors a rare blend of history, scenery, and exceptional food.
The Station is open seven days a week, serving breakfast from 9am to 10:30am, lunch and afternoon tea from 11am to 3pm, and takeaway drinks from 8am for early risers. Whether you’re stopping by for a hearty breakfast, a relaxed lunch, or a classic afternoon tea aboard the train, the menu focuses on quality, local produce and warm hospitality.
The café also features a small shop offering local goods, souvenirs, ice cream, wine, cider, beer, and basic provisions—perfect for travellers exploring the northern Lakes.
The dedicated team also host a lively calendar of events, including wine tastings, foraging workshops, and seasonal activities.
