Lakes and Dales Co-Op is Keswick’s second supermarket. Smaller than Booths, but more familiar, Co-Op stocks everything you need for your self-catering holiday.
Facilities include a bakery, hot food counter, and lottery counter.
Co-Op is more affordable than Booths, and also has free parking for the first hour.
The team at Co-Op are incredibly friendly, close-knit, and long-standing, so if you’ve visited Keswick before, you’re sure to see a few familiar faces!
This shop also benefits from a Costa Express, which is handy for anyone wanting to grab a quick hot drink before heading off on a walk (without standing in the queue for the Costa Coffee at the top of town!). It’s no good having coffee without a sweet treat, so we recommend grabbing a cake, bun, or biscuit from the counter at the front of the store–the shortbread is especially delicious! Here, you can also buy scratchcards and lottery tickets, as well as tobacco products and alcohol.
Keswick Co-Op is part of the Scotmid collective, a small group of stores across the north of England in the Lake District, Weardale and the Seaton Valley in south-east Northumberland. Each of these three areas at one time operated as small independent cooperatives until they joined the Scotmid family. All Lakes and Dales stores are in areas that are known for their strong sense of community and their excellent local produce.
While ‘Co-Op cards’ can’t be used in this store, it only costs £1 to become a Scotmid member, which unlocks exclusive discounts and helps support local communities like Keswick. Every year, Scotmid re-invests £300,000 back into communities by supporting over 1,000 l0cal causes.
Co-Op is a favourite with locals, and is the perfect place to stock up on everything you need for your self-catering holiday in Keswick.
