Words by the Water Festival of Words and Ideas returned to Theatre by the Lake in Keswick in Spring 2025. The 5 day event was a huge success and is very popular. The dates for 2026 have not yet been released, but watch this space!
The main festival may have been and gone but there are still plenty of events to be held by Words by the Water. So far the following events have been announced:

Joanne Harris

The best selling author of Chocolat (1999), is back with the prequel which follows the story of Vianne Rocher 6 years before the events of Chocolat. Joanne will be discussing her new book Vianne, her writing life and career. She will be signing books and meeting readers after the event.

An evening with David Nicholls

The best selling author of One Day, which has recently been adapted into a hit Netflix series, David Nicholls will be in conversation with Words by the Water. He will be discussing his new novel You Are Here, which delves into themes of love and loss, first encounters and second chances on a journey by a midlife lonely couple who meet up on a walk across the north of England- ten days through the Lakes and Dales.

He will be signing books and meeting readers after this event.
