Description

Step inside and discover the spacious open-plan living, kitchen and dining area which will immediately impress, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the views.

The fully-equipped kitchen allows the designated chef to get to work preparing and cooking up a delicious meal, whilst the dining table is the perfect spot to tuck in, gaze at the views and recount past adventures. After a busy day exploring, the living room with comfortable leather seating makes the perfect place to come back and relax with a cup of tea, or catch up with your favourite shows on the wall-mounted Smart TV.

There are three modern, attractive bedrooms, all with zip-and-link beds, providing flexibility to suit different group requirements. The master bedroom has a superking bed which can be split into twin, and the two other bedrooms can be king-size or compact twin. The standard configuration is one superking, one king, and one compact twin bedroom, there is a £15 charge if you would like the beds changed. All bedrooms have new high-quality mattresses, luxury white bed linen and towels.

The beautiful new bathrooms are a very good size; one with basin, WC, heated towel rail and bath with shower over, and the second with a substantial shower unit, basin, WC and heated towel rail.

You could enjoy breathtaking views while dining al-fresco on warm summer days, with views over Derwentwater and the surrounding fells, occasionally with a visit from local wildlife!

There is a useful utility room with washing machine, separate dryer, and a Belfast sink overlooking Derwentwater.

The lodge boasts ample parking. There are several lovely walks immediately on offer from the door, so don’t forget your hiking boots! Or, bring your mountain bike with you to see even more of this beautiful area. Lockable storage is available in the shed for pedal bikes.

Castlerigg Hall campsite is nearby where you can purchase basics such as fresh milk, bread and eggs.

Fancy a bite to eat? Why not try the cafe at Castlerigg Hall which is open daily from 12:00-16:00 for delicious coffee and cakes, and the Heights Hotel Crag Bar 5 minutes down the lane sells vegetarian and vegan-friendly meals every evening from spring-autumn.

Follow the path to walk down into Keswick (about 25 mins); to Castlerigg Stone Circle (about 35 minutes), and Walla Crag (about 40 minutes) with spectacular views down to Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite.

You may be lucky enough to spot paragliders taking flight!

Lodge with a view
Beautiful accommodation well kept, spotless with everything catered for. Magnificent view over Derwentwater. Could not be bettered. Keswick Cottages a fantastic business to deal with too.

Hiking in the lake district
Our five nights in swallows lodge was the perfect location for a hiking trip in the hills around Keswick , you can walk out of the front door and on to a footpath in more or less any direction, swallows lodge, has a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and two good bathrooms, and a lounge/ living room area to put your feet up in, only a bookcase with local interests was missing. From the large window there is a lovely view complimented by rabbits hopping around the garden, for those who can't get enough of house work, the utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer. Keswick is a small town with many pubs and restaurants to eat and drink in, decent cafés are also not in short supply .Booking swallows was uncomplicated, if you have a few days free and would like to meet friends or family, grab your anorak and head for the lakes, I can recommend it.

Hi Nigel, Thank you for your review. Swallows Lodge is set out of the main hustle and bustle of Keswick town centre but it is only a short walk away. Right from the doorstep you can head up Walla Crag or head down through the woods to Derwentwater. The views from the lodge are stunning and if you're lucky you can see jets doing their practice training through the valley. We hope you had a fantastic holiday and we hope we can welcome you back again in the future. Best wishes, Keswick Cottages

Lovely property, spectacular view!
We had a lovely week staying in Swallows Lodge. The beds and sofas were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. There was plenty of space for five of us, plus a large dog. Having two bathrooms and toilets was useful, and there was a clothes airer as well as an outside washing line. We were extremely lucky with the weather as it was warm and dry for the entire week, so we didn't need to use the heating. There were plenty of heaters so I imagine it would be warm in colder weather. The views over Derwentwater to the mountains on the far side of the lake are beautiful and can be enjoyed from the living area through the bifold glass doors or from the outside terrace area. It would have been nice to have a couple of more comfortable outdoor chairs. The view comes at the price of a long downhill walk into Keswick and the equivalent uphill on the way back! It is really easy to access the main A66 for car trips further afield and there is a bus stop at the end of the lane (although we didn't use the bus). The walk over the Castlerigg Stone Circle takes about 30 minutes. We would definitely consider returning to this property in future.

Hi Naomi, Thank you for your review. Swallows Lodge is set in a beautiful location with stunning views across Derwentwater over to Catbells, Causey Pike and many others. There are a few walks that can done right from the doorstep including Castlerigg Stone Circle and Walla Crag. We're glad you had a lovely week and the weather stayed warm and dry for you. We would love to welcome you back in the future! Best wishes, Keswick Cottages
