Love this cottage starting from the bottom floor, which is the Garage plenty of space with a sink, washer in it also a door taking you to a little patio area. The fact I could clean and dry the dog before allowing him up to the living area. Once upstairs there is baby gates if required to fit at the top of the first flight of stairs. This leads to a well equipped kitchen with a great view over the hills and an open plan lounge with comfortable seating and a nice place to relax after a days walking. Then up another flight of stairs to 2 bedrooms and bathroom. As there was only 2 of us we had only the main bedroom, the bedroom small in size but ample space in the wardrobe with shelving, the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom I loved the walk in shower. This property is very classy and situated in a perfect place for town centre or to walk from, our 2and visit to this property and will be back.Graham

Testimonials
Lovely property, in a really good location. We did not want for anything it is so well equipped. Although as a family property an extra TV would be helpful, but as that week the Athletics kept us glued to the one set. . Boys rated it great as WI was very good ! Don't expect any shops in Portinscale, Keswick is the nearest, but the caravan park just down the road at Braithwaite has newspapers, bread milk, other essentials and easy to park. And it is just 20-25 minutes walk into Keswick. The problem with the patio door was dealt within a couple of hours by Hugh. You don't expect problems but Keswick Cottages never let us down. We would never consider using anyone else and have always been pleased with our chosen holiday home over several yearss. Such great people to deal with. Look forward to 2018.Noon Family

A charming Lakeland 'snug' with views of Skiddaw, Barf Cottage is situated in the tranquil village on the edge of Derwentwater. Within an easy 20 minute walk to the market town of Keswick the cottage is a stone throw away from the local pub The Farmers Arms, a 5 minute walk from 'The Chalet' tearooms and a 10 minute walk to Derwent and Nicole End Marinas. The cottage retains all the original features of a traditional Lakeland home yet at the same time offers modern fixtures, comfort and style. A small yet characterful front garden has outdoor seating to enjoy that 'post hike' drink on sunny afternoons and evenings. The cottage serves as a wonderful bolthole for couples, small groups of friends or families.

What a fab cottage. We have stayed in the Lake District many times but never in Portinscale and loved the location being so close to Keswick. The cottage is spacious and home from home. Some lovely thoughtful touches for the dog and handy bike storage. The weather this week was amazing in the high 20's only a few drops of rain on Friday, first time for us in the Lakes when we didn't need all our waterproofs. Climbed Scafell Pike, Catbells, Maiden Moor and High Spy. Loads of dog walks, drove the Honister pass to Buttermere...stunning! Sad to return to 'flat' Norfolk! The Peachments & Barney Dog
