We have just returned from a fabulous week staying at Causey View. We have been visiting the Lakes for 30 years and this is the best base we've had. The cottage is gorgeous, spacious and luxurious, very comfortable. The boot room is brilliant. Perfect for getting soggy boots and waterproofs dried quickly. I loved being in the back garden listening to the brook and being able to watch the mountains from the property. Having several pubs a few minutes walk away was useful. The Royal Oak does very substantial take away meals. The village shop is charming (two minutes walk). Friendly staff and fresh baked bread daily. Keswick is only two miles away. We walked from Borrowdale Valley for the first time. So beautiful! We love the gallery and cafe at Thornethwaite - a few minutes drive away. There is easy access to so many walks and activities we would happily stay there again.
Ruth and Roy from Midlands 9th October 2021
We loved this newly fitted out and well appointed cottage. The open plan living area is light and airy and a lovely place to be, whatever the weather. There are many delightful decorative touches. Important for a good holiday, the beds are comfortable, with good-quality bedding and the shower is a joy. the location speaks for itself, with good facilities in the village and great walks from the door and within a very short driving distance. We had a supurb holiday and very much hope to return.
Sue Bellamy from West Sussex 5th September 2021
It's hard to add to the earlier comments. A delightful and excellently equipped bungalow set in a scenic village about 2 miles from the bustling Keswick. There are many local walks, a village shop, the popular Coledale Inn (serving local bitter) and of course access to the western Lake District area. The drive towards Crummock Water and Buttermere along the Whinlattwr Pass has some stunning views, all about 10 minutes from the front door. A very comfortable accommodation, whatever the weather, and comes highly recommended.
Rob & Christine from East Sussex 1st September 2021
A great place to stay to access great walks, Keswick and beyond. We had a lovely time in this bungalow, offering lots of space with a modern feel to the interior decor. Thoroughly recommend!
Ben and Jane from Sussex 31st July 2020
Causey View was a great base to return to after a day's hiking - with a decent shower, comfortable beds and utility room for storing boots, jackets, etc. The location is ideal with Keswick so close by for food shopping; the Braithwaite Village Shop was so useful and 3 pubs in the village left us spoilt for choice (although the pub at the top of the hill was our favourite for an evening beer in the sunshine). We'll hopefully be heading back again next summer.
Caroline Smith from East Sussex 10th July 2021
We recently returned from a wonderful stay in this beautiful appealing to the eye, bungalow which was very impressive immaculately done throughout , with modern contemporary fixtures and fittings throughout ,kitchen bathroom and lounge and double bedroom were just delightful exceptionally clean comfortable and spacious , well equipped with everything you need, the bed was very comfortable with high quality bedding and pillows. with that extra touch to make you feel on a special holiday, the owners also added the extra welcome touch with Prossecco and a box of biscuits on arrival. much appreciated Thankyou. Causey view is also in a lovely location close to some beautiful scenery , the views from the bungalow especially nice ,and great walks. The garden with seating is especially nice and used a lot to relax after long walks, and exploring the Lakes,The 2 pubs are also appealing within walking distance serving delicious food and large beer gardens if fancy eating outside especially the Coledale Inn . Also a local shop around the corner. serving fresh croissant s and pastries was great We would highly recommend Causey view it truly is the loveliest place we’ve ever stayed in the Lake District and have been coming for years could not ask for more ....
Helen from Leeds 5th June 2021
Whatever you're expecting, it's difficult to imagine a better place for a Lakeland getaway than Causey View. Bonuses for us - a "senior" couple - was the comfort for days in, and the variety of lower level walks from the front door. Brilliant!
Peter and Pim Claridge from Sussex 17th May 2021
Causey View completely charmed us. The views from the property are just stunning and it’s ideally placed for some of the best big mountain days the Lakes has to offer (Hellvellyn, Blencathra, Skiddaw and so on!). It’s just the perfect base for all kinds of activities; we managed to walk, run, climb, cycle, swim (in Derwent) and even paddle board. The utility room with its own side entrance is perfect for drying soggy waterproofs and wetsuits. It’s a brilliant combination of the rugged Lakes landscape surrounding you and luxury escape with all your home comforts. The shower was particularly lovely. We’d come back from a day of activities and have the same conversation “we could definitely live here”. Safe to say we didn’t want to leave!
Ellen Crawford from Oxford 29th April 2021
Such a perfect little holiday home with everything you could possibly need! LOVE all the fine details which make it a 'home away from home'! There are some incredible walks on the doorstep and with Keswick just 5 minutes down the road, you don't need to go far for anything. The space in the cottage is just what we needed after our days on boats and climbing the mountains - cosy and comfortable and plenty of space for all our gear. We will be back!
Emma Stafford from Surrey 8th May 2021
What a fabulous week in a gorgeous cottage! Causey View was the perfect mix of modern luxury, and homely comfort. It was extremely well equipped for a week of long walks and self-catered meals, and the location was PERFECT! Plenty of walks from the front door, with the Village Shop and some lovely pubs on the doorstep. We loved the wood burning stove and amazing bathroom to relax the muscles after a long walk. This was our first stay at Causey View and it definitely won't be our last!
