Around Keswick

Keswick on Derwentwater is a small but very attractive market town set amongst some of the most spectacular scenery in the Lake District. Keswick is the centre from which all visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities.

The three highest mountain ranges in England, Skiddaw, Helvellyn and Scafell Pike are all within easy reach. Visitors can engage in a challenging trek, enjoy an unlimited number of planned walks or just take in the scenery. Historic places of interest to see and visit include the 4000 year old Castlerigg Stone Circle, Mirehouse, victorian museum, cars of the stars museum, the pencil museum and the literary connections with Southey, Coleridge, Wordsworth and Ruskin all offer days of discovery.

Activities for the more energetic and adventurous are also catered for. A variety of watersports, paragliding, swimming, mountain biking and much more are all available at the many established centres. Keswick also offers two large public parks which offer games facilities in open, wooded and garden settings. Other facilities include a new sports hall, leisure pool, cinema, new theatre, golf, cycle hire, fishing, in fact more than most visitors expect.

Finish off the day with a stroll down to the shores of Derwentwater or sample the many restaurants and pubs of the town itself. Try some local dishes, relax in the warm, welcoming atmosphere and just indulge yourself.
